đź’–FOUNTAINTALE DEVLOG - APRIL 2024đź’–


Hello everyone!!

From this month onward, we'll start giving monthly updates on the project's development in the form of devlogs!
This month's devlog will cover progress ranging from a lot of different time periods, but mostly featuring stuff from the month of april.

So let's cut to the chase and begin!


Team Updates

Since february, the team has entered on hiatus due to problems in VexSaber's personal life. During that time we underwent an re-organization and also rewrote the game's script to enhance the game's story and also gameplay beats.

We've been sporadically making new content behind the scenes, but now with the full script of the first 3 segments done and the new method we use to handle tasks, the team is BACK and at FULL SPEED!

We can't promise the full game for this year, but we plan to release at least a DEMO, including 1/3 of the chapter's content.


New Songs

In the last few days, we've released a bunch of new songs on our Soundcloud profile, check them out!

Starting off with an update to an old song "VOLCANO SUIT DESTROYER BLASTLORD".

Made by Rosaic, this song plays in the fight against Volcano Suit Allison, the final fight of the game!

Following is the "Abyssal Ruins", the theme of the Abyssal Ruins short area, made by Thrique!

This one is a simple beat that plays inbetween the fights during the Mugen Arena segment, nothing crazy. Made by RetroLeaves.

And finally, "The Legend", an epic song fitting for an epic cutscene, also made by Rosaic!


Game Progress

Now onto the game itself, we haven't made a huge lot on the game itself but a lot has been done in writing and assets, as we previously said:

  • Script Writing - Most of our focus during the last few months have been put here! We were able to plan out the entire game, rewriting certain parts to enhance the experience and sharp a few rough edges. We have also fully written 1/3 of the chapter's scenes!

  • Main Menu - We've implemented the main menu to the game, with all options being fully functional.

  • Prologue - Toriel's House is fully implemented in-game, and the scene's introduction is fully coded as well. We plan on posting a video of the complete scene later this month!

  • Less Important Stuff - To close this section off, we are also in the process of finishing up a few essential concept art, like Areas, Cutscenes and Character Reference Sheets.

We want to keep most of this chapter's content a surprise, but we show some snippets from time to time in our Discord Server


Closing Remarks

We are very excited to continue development on this project, and we can't wait to show everyone what we have been cooking, the next devlogs will probably feat much more exciting news since we are focusing 100% of our efforts on the game right now. But for now, that's everything folks!
