Hello!
I wanted to take a minute to answer some of the most common questions we have received in the last few days. If you have a question you don’t see answered here always feel free to ask us!

How much will Heartbound cost?
We will be launching Heartbound for 10$. This price will change for different countries to make sure it stays affordable for everyone.
When will Heartbound launch?
We are hoping to fully finish and release the game by December 2017. Right now we are on track for that date but if anything changes we will let everyone know.
Will Heartbound have any DLC or a sequel?
No DLC will ever be created for Heartbound and there will never be a sequel. You will get the entire story and nothing less.
My Mac says that the Heartbound.app is damaged, what do I do?

I can’t get past the controls screen, help!
If mouse and keyboard controls are displayed, make sure Heartbound’s window has focus and left click or hit z. If there are gamepad controls displayed then use the gamepad you have plugged in or disconnect the gamepad. If there are still gamepad controls displaying after you disconnect your computer still thinks the gamepad is plugged in.
What platforms will Heartbound launch on?
Windows
Mac
Linux
Game Jolt
Steam

Is this a fan game?
Heartbound is an entirely new game world as is not based off any other game.
What inspired you to make Heartbound?
I grew up in the SNES era of video games and played a ton of RPGs growing up. Pixel graphics, a deep story-line, and tons of little jokes are absolutely my idea of fun. Here are some of the games that have inspired me over the years and the reasoning behind each.
Secret of Evermore
The dog companion always stuck in my mind as something great. Incredibly powerful toaster dog companion was even more awesome. Evermore kind of lacked in emotional attachment to the companion for me though.
Secret of Mana
Emotional tie with a companion was huge for me in Secret of Mana. I actually reset the game when I found out my dragon Flammie was the destroyer of worlds. Young me thought I played the game wrong and was pretty emotionally devastated. That feeling never left me and I never had it again in any other game I ever played.
Earthbound
Ridiculous humor with an undertone of horror. The front-on isometric camera angle always stuck with me. Knowing your game can be absolutely absurd while you save the world was something that stayed with me. In Heartbound I turn that concept on its head a bit by having a deeply emotional game world specked with absurd humor.
Wario Ware
Rapid fire ridiculous mini-games heavily influenced the combat system. I love Wario Ware and all of the absurdity it brought to the world of games.
One Shot
Understanding that I don’t have to pull punches on secrets or puzzles was a big help. You can give people a chance to be and feel smart and not hold their hand through every difficult task.
Undertale
Knowing that you can use a non-standard combat system and everything will turn out fine. The boss combats really stuck with me as showing that combat can be limited to specific fights and still be very fun. Combat is more about driving the story than it is about becoming powerful.
