Yet another devlog, why you’ll love it?
We’re all cruising on the same boat, right?
We develop games so hard that we neglect our social life, familiy and other hobbies.
We spend money for new computer parts instead of food.
We seek occasions to have a free pizza friday.
We attend gamejams so we can feel that our game got attention just for a second.
Most of this devlog’s content will be about Sole Light’s development process, but posts will be connected with indiedev’s life that we all share.
Maybe you’ll love it or not, but it’s about most of us.
The truth is, most of us won’t make it. It could be me, or you. But it doesn’t really matter at all.
Just remember, the road is the goal.
How Sole Light started?
Few weeks ago I’ve finished cooperation with the rest of Sapu team. Though we still have good relations etc.
I decided it’s time to forge my own small project.
What I wanted to cover through this project was:
simple
puzzle
cozy and relaxing
inspired by real life
First there was a concept on paper
I picked only TWO mechanics to keep things simple.
First one is obviously Movement
second on is Pushing Rocks
Movement One | Movement Two
Then, a very beginning of movement example
I had only two ideas on my mind. You have to get to bonfire (methaphore of warm, safe place) and solve few, not so challenging, rather relaxing puzzles. All of that during rain (coziness I guess?)
Then I created more dynamic level kick off
I thought it’ll give more life and better give player information when he’s able to start.
Now I’m working on pushing rocks mechanics
It’s still pretty early but have a look
As you can see something went wrong. Just like in real life.
But I’m on may way to fix it and polish things.
What’s next?
I’ll do my best to cover pushing rocks mechanic and finishing first puzzle.
Thank you
