Going Back To Unity

Hello I have decided to go back to Unity from Unreal Engine 4 due to these reasons

  1. It takes way to long to create a game from Unreal because you have do a lot with the editor just to create one thing like an object for the game not because its hard plus here’s a list of the time it took to create a game with Unity vs Unreal.

Unreal : A half year just to create a Corruption game demo
Unity : Just a few months for a demo for Paranormal Activity 2 and full game a few weeks later.

  1. Very high system requirements for Unreal and worse a broken game if the games frame rate is too low.

  2. Unreal doesn’t support a lot of file formats to import to the games files like .3ds, .mp3, .max and etc.

  3. Unreal has a very bad animation editor that turned into a cinematic editor instead in their latest updates.

  4. Takes a while to rebuild lighting for the games scene.

  5. The editor can crash a lot which can corrupt files rarely though.

  6. And lastly the game sometimes breaks its self which mostly makes it impossible to open the games project. And in order to fix the issues you have to use Visual Studio which takes a while to install.

And yep that’s pretty much it.

The main reason at first I switched to Unreal was because of its graphics but due to issues with its editor I can no longer use it to create games with which is pretty sad.
I also noticed that Unity has doubled their graphics quite a notch which is very good to hear. I have already learned most of its scripting and tools again and excited to bring up my next game. Thanks for reading this post and understanding this issue.
