Gonna get back to working on some maze game

Gee I should pay attention to which of my games have more followers and probably do something about it! Well, I didn’t get a chance to do the last LD, but I might do a LD maze for the next one.

Now, the original plan though was never to make an endless series LD mazes out of this project. The Ludum Mazes were kind of temporary transitions. So let’s layout the big ideas right here:

  • The idea is to have a maze that can connect to other mazes via doors

  • The maze should be multiplayer. It means at any point of time, you might encounter someone in the maze and say hi! (or kick their butt)

  • Each maze can be modified on the fly using pictures, link to videos, music, or any interesting content…

  • Each part of the maze will be owned… BY YOU. That’s right! When I’m done with this project, you will have a piece of maze that you can modify as you please. A little refuge where you can store all your precious memories, pictures, videos, writings, minigames… This was my goal when I started this project. I just wanted to create a personal world where I can put pictures and music videos of my favorite band on the wall, and be able to explore it back whenever I wanted. Then I thought it’d be nice if everyone could do it as well. And it’d be even nicer if we could all visit each other’s little personal world, watch it unfold, interact with it, and perhaps hide a little surprise somewhere in that world for the owner to find.

Anyway, this was my big idea. This project is using an engine that’s more than 3 years old, and the concept itself was in the air for several years. I got sidetracked because the project started to look very insanely difficult, so I needed something else to boost my programming skills, but I never lost sight of it. One day, I will finish it, and if it is as good as I imagine in my mind, it will be simply amazing!

If you have some comments or ideas about what you’d like in your maze, feel free to leave it… somewhere… hum, where? Not sure how Gamejolt works, can we leave comments on news articles? If not, feel free to just send me a message.

Thanks.
