Okay, I'm going to be honest here.
I like the potential of Joyville. As someone who hasn't played Garten of Banban or Poppy Playtime, but seen enough to know there's some inspiration here, I was willing to try this since it has mostly positive feedback from players. I enjoyed the environment design; something I think already beats Garten of Banban in some ways. This facility has a lot of amazing details and it was pretty cool to explore.
I enjoyed the creep factor of those demonic looking worms lol. I had to take a second look to realize the movement of the first one from the Wheel of Joy. That got me so good I freaking screamed at the jump scare, which is pretty rare for me to scream as loud as I did. XD
I think the main mascot is creepy, but homie is running on GOD Mode or something because damn, he is always right behind you during chase sequences. Speaking of chase sequences, that last one made me experience pure rage. XD I had succeeded twice in a randomized sequence and still managed to get killed. I went through this same level so many times, and finally bought enough seconds to finally get passed those doors. That felt like hell to repeat over and over again. The changing numbers was just crazy, but I respect the challenge.
I am looking forward to see what more is in store and I like the story so far. Joyville actually has a pretty solid first "chapter," if you will. I didn't realize this was episodic to be honest (poor researching on my part). So for $10..I think that was a bit much for so little. Could have been $5 max, just my opinion.
Overall, I had a mostly positive experience and enjoyed it for what it was. :)
