For one, it isn't canceled. I still want to make this and hope to complete it here soon. And development hasn't ceased, I've been working on stuff in the background. You might've noticed the roster getting updated at random points with new icons. And hey, if you didn't notice, then at least now you've got something to look out for lol.
That being said, this game is nowhere near complete. I've got tons of stuff to still do, and to be honest, it probably would've been smarter to wait until now to make a gamejolt page for it. I really should've waited to advertise this, because almost everything I made when this page was first put up is either gone, replaced or being remade. But eh, I jumped the gun on that, and I just gotta go from there.
So in short, this game is still being worked on and I still want to make it; I just wouldn't expect anything anytime soon.
In the meantime, I'll give you a few updates on what I've come up with in my time of silence:
1. Updated Unlocks Roster
I've changed the unlockable roster to swap out the Fanverse characters for ones in Security Breach and other games. I won't get into why, but let's just say a certain individual getting into drama every other week has deterred me from including certain Fanverse characters, so I'm just gonna stick to the main franchise.
There's currently two empty slots, so feel free to suggest someone for them, but at the moment the only new additions to this roster are Frost Endo and Moon Plush from Security Breach.
2. Hardmode Difficulty System
I want this game to be different from your typical UCN clones, so I've changed how the AIs will work. Instead of a scale from 1-20, each animatronic will have 4 modes; Deactivated, Activated, Rampaging, and Hardmode.
Deactivated is self explanatory; the animatronic won't be active for that night.
Activated is their easiest AI, comparable to an AI of 5-7 in UCN.
Rampaging is the medium difficulty, being closer to 15 in UCN.
And, of course, Hardmode is their most aggressive state, being the equivalent of a 20 level AI; so 225/20 mode would be everyone on the Hardmode difficulty.
To indicate what each animatronic is at, they'll have 3 different icons; a greyscale icon for when they aren't active, their regular icon for Activated & Rampaging, and a unique icon for Hardmode. There'll be an indicator next to them on the menu as well, so don't worry about if you forget what icon means what.
The icons will also sometimes hold little references in them, such as Freddy's referencing his poster easteregg, or Easter Chica's referencing assets from AR.
3. Expanded roster maybe?
With both RUIN and Help Wanted 2 coming out, there's a good possibility at an expansion to at least an edit to the current roster. Nobody will get removed, but certain characters like Burntrap might become different, and I might add 15 more if Help Wanted 2 brings more Hardmode variants.
But this all remains to be seen.
4. Nightguard System
Due to the fact that it wouldn't make a lot of sense for the human characters to be enemies (with exceptions like Phone Guy and Vanny), I figured I'd find a different way to implement them. My current idea for this is to have multiple selectable roles under the names of those characters; giving you certain boosts to certain tasks, like maybe Gregory has a lower recharge time on the Faz-Cam, or Michael can reboot systems faster.
Nothing set in stone, kinda waiting for RUIN to see what Cassie brings to the table, but the idea is there. Though for now, here's the current list of Nightguard classes:
5. Models and assets
Outside of a few FNaF World characters, I have a good idea of what models I'm going to need/already have, so characters are covered on that front. Plus, Spring Bonnie finally has an official model, so I'll be using that instead of the fan model I've been using.
Other assets are being worked on; the map in particular is nearing completion, but I'm not gonna touch too much on that purely because I want to get it to a presentable state before I show anything.
6. When the fuck is this coming out?
I wish I could tell you. I'm starting college in August, so that'll be interesting, but I hope at the very earliest, this'll be a thing sometime next year. I don't wanna make promises though; I have been silent for like 4 months.
Overall, I'm in a good spot with getting all the assets made, so hopefully I can give a more exciting update in the future outside of letting you know that I'm not dead.
