Hidden Gem: Samurai Kid

The very first hidden gem I'd like to uncover is a puzzle-based action platformer that was released for Game Boy Color in Japan only. It is known as Samurai Kid. It truly is a fine title with solid gameplay mechanics, clever level design, decent graphics, and an addictive soundtrack.

The main mechanic of the game is to utilize three different weapons to clear large levels that are chock-full of things to explore and enemies to defeat. Combined with Samurai Kid's move set, this is perhaps one of the best and versatile puzzle platformers I've ever played.

I hope that this gets a translation one day!

A classic Sonic for your timeline! I love the opening/ending animations in Sonic CD since they do a stellar job representing his movement, wits and attitude. This one was a lot of fun!
