I gave it my all, but this fangame wasn't meant to be.
This was a very hard decision for me to make, but it was honestly for the better in the end. For the sake of my well being.
I really didn't want to cancel this game. It wasn't my first time cancelling a game before, but it hurts because this was a passion project I really loved making. I really had so many ideas and things I wanted to do for it, but as time passed on, I really started to lose motivation on this project, and it doesn't help that I was the only person doing everything for this game besides the OST.
Not to mention that this game barely got any traction outside of one video from Linx4 (which I am still grateful he played my game.)
And if I'm gonna be honest, I made this game solely because of the hype around Friday Night Funkin' Indie Cross when the mod released back in 2022.
And hearing about CorpseSyndrome (The creator of Mario: The Music Box) and what she did was ultimately the final nail in the coffin for HFF.
I really am sorry to the people who were looking forward to the rest of this game's release. But with everything going on these past few days, it felt time consuming and even questioning what was the point?
If anyone else out there wants to finish what I started, make their own Horror Fangame Frenzy in any way, even if it's not an RPG Maker game, you have my permission. You can use the assets I've made, though you may want to talk to my composer if you wish to use the OST he made.
Speaking of, the last things I'll be releasing for Horror Fangame Frenzy will be all the OST the composer made, the CGs and artwork of the characters, and a summary of what the story of HFF would've been.
But I do wanna take this moment to thank a few specific people for supporting this project among other things. Because they deserve one final hurrah.
First is @MSTTRB
, thanks for being the biggest supporter of HFF. I am truly sorry that the crossover you wanted for ages come to fruition by me. And I wish I could've expressed my gratitude for your support.
Second is @Dierita
, for being another supporter of the game. She was also one of the writers for Luna Game 3D, so it did feel nice to have someone who developed the game support my game as well. Plus, thanks for being my unofficial bug hunter for the game.
Next is @MegaGaby2025
, for being a recent supporter. And I will still be on his team making the RPG Maker sections of the cutscenes for FNF Vs. (Mario) The Music Box Rerun. Because I still love (M)TMB regardless of what's happened recently.
And finally is @SuperDup
, for composing all the original tracks for Horror Fangame Frenzy. I am eternally grateful for your work and hope you go far with the music you make.
So yeah, this is it. I don't know if I may even compose another game after this, but only time will tell. So until then, the Crimson Lighting is out.
