I gave boosting a shot with an optimistic mindset, and here's what I found and what I thought of it.
Mediocre Performance
My game boost lasted from June 18th to the 23rd (I will explain later why that is not 7 days). Here are the views statistics, with an all-time high of 414.

For 20 dollars, the boost's effectiveness drained out pretty much in the span of 3 days. The reason there is a big spike at the start is because boosting puts your game at the top of the hot section and it puts it on the featured page, as seen in the image at the top of the post. However, it only stays on the featured page for a day and the hot section boost makes it gradually go to the bottom just like if you were to the release the game normally. The second day traction was only from the hot section since the featured boost ran out, I guess, and then from there, it had a little on the third day, and past that there was barely anything.
I think that based on this, the $5 for 24 hours option might actually be worth it if it gets on the featured page, but I don't see a reason to boost for more time since it barely does anything past the 2 day mark.
The Information is Lacking
If you checked out the FAQ like I have, you might notice how little they actually describe the boosting feature. They didn't say anything about what game boosting actually did, let alone other boosts. You can check it out for yourself here: https://gamejolt.com/help-docs/Shop/boost
When you are looking to purchase a boost, you are not even given a link to the FAQ, which is especially an issue for the next point.
Fairly Misleading
When you buy something that says it lasts a week, how long do you think it will last?

If you said 7 days, you'd be wrong. It's 5 days. What about a month? It's 28 days. I asked Gamejolt why my boost was lasting only 5 days instead of 7, and they directed me to the FAQ: https://gamejolt.com/help-docs/Shop/boost

I cannot be the only person that thinks that something that says it lasts a week only lasting 5 days is very misleading, Especially when the store DOES NOT tell you this. There is no link to the FAQ either on the store page.
Comments
You will get people in your comments who will comment on your game being boosted. I didn't have a big issue with this, but it was a little annoying. If you find any comments talking about boosting on my game page, do not spark conflict with them, and I mean it.
Conclusion
I think that boosting for a day might be worth the 5 bucks (I have not tested it), but these statistics show me that boosting for a week, let alone a month, currently isn't very worth it. The benefits that boosting gives drain fast. A week boost (which lasts 5 days) only gave me 24 hours on the featured page and 2-3 days of traction. I doubt the month boost is much different. I would like to be more positive about this feature, which I have tried to do, but overall it's not a great use of money in its current state. It really needs work to be worth the money, especially when you have to email Gamejolt to even submit the boost request, and the information you should know is not even on the FAQ, which isn't even linked on the store page.
I hope Gamejolt improves the feature in a way that does not block out other users on the platform, or they could just replace it with self-made-advertisements like Roblox in a non-obtrusive way. I think that would work out better for everyone than this system, personally.
Thanks for reading, and discuss your thoughts in the comments. Do not harass others for having different opinions, thanks.
