I don't like the direction the fnaf story is heading


so I just got done watching MatPat's newest theory on security breach and if he ends up being right I don't like where things are going.

in the video MatPat makes the claim that Gregory is the crying child (or the be specific a robot version of him similar to charlie from the books), freddy is posessed by michael, and vanessa is elizabeth (again most likley a robot but MatPat didn't specify).

If this is true (which it might not because MatPat isn't right about everything) then I don't know if I'll be invested in the fnaf franchise long term. what this says to me is that steel wool (or whoever is going to be making fnaf games) can just completely retcon important events from past titles. look at what I said above if it's true then that means

  1. the crying child dying is much less imactful, why should I care about his death if he can just be brought back again as a robot that might as well just be a sentient person and we can't even tell he's a robot without looking deeper into things. why can't gregory just be a random kid

  2. elizabeth dying in sister location has no impact now that we know a robot version of her is walking around (or something like that MP is probably going to talk more about this in his next SB video)

  3. fnaf 6 is COMPLETELY POINTLESS! this is so rediculous that even MatPat felt the need to comment on this. seriously look at fnaf 6 and tell me what part of that game wasn't completely retconned in SB. afton? nope he's back because god forbid we let the main antagonist of the game that we've been hyping up for two years get some god damn screentime. baby? molten freddy? the puppet? the souls of all the dead kids? all back as one big blob thing that's so generic and uninteresting they spent exactly 18 seconds naming it. michel? nope he's back...actually I kind of like the idea of freddy being posessed by michael. henry died for nothing everything fnaf six stood for is completely uprooted and thrown out the window.

and who knows what else they will retcon in the future. who knows, maybe the toys were never scrapped and are in the pizza plex somewhere. maybe the original four weren't destroyed and have small boo boos from when the bad man tipped them over, what if the bite of 87 never happeend and the phone guy was just bullshitting us.

maybe mr hippo was right, maybe this whole thing doesn't mean anything at all.
