Game
Chaotic Clone

I'm very sorry for the lack of news so I would like to explain what's been going on.

Obviously, its been a while and I apologise for that. Now there are a few reasons why there hasn't been an update:

1) I am simply more busy now. When development began I had a lot of free time but now life is transitioning back to "normal" . Therefore I have a lot more going on and have less time to work on Chaotic Clone.

2) I have been a bit dumb during development; there have been several occasions where I haven't saved regularly. The issue here is that my laptop has 4 GB of RAM. And the Unity Editor recommends having 8 GB. Now that is an obvious issue and honestly I am somewhat surprised that I have been able to run it. What I am not surprised about is the amount of crashes I have encountered. And yeah that kind of speaks for it self. I have lost a decent amount progress. Thankfully nothing major but it has cost me some time.

3) One thing I really wanted to add to this update was a boss fight. That on its own is obviously going to take a lot of work but there are other things to consider. For example I would need to add a ton of content so the player doesn't encounter the boss too early. The other main thing to consider isn't something you would think about - Saving. See the simplest way to punish a player for dying is to reload the scene but as it stands the player would be sent back to the beginning of the game. That is way too harsh so a save system is essential. But, at least to my basic understanding, there isn't a simple solution. Now of course I may be missing something but I doubt that there is a solution that wouldn't require a lot of scripting.

4) This final issue isn't something super obvious but it comes down to my design choices. Personally, I believe it would be poor game design to throw tons of objects at the player so I have decided to introduce them slowly. And well it is actually quite difficult to come up with clever puzzles with so few elements. My point here is that early game puzzles will probably take longer to create so updates are going slower at this stage in development.

Now I want you guys to help out here: Would you prefer it if I released larger updates that are released less frequently or smaller updates that will be released every couple weeks. I have attached a poll to this post. You have 3 days to answer.

Also whilst I am writing this post I have decided to post screen-shots regularly so that you can see how the development is going. I have attached the first 5 to this post.

As always Thank You for reading and also thanks for your patience.

Really didn't know how to create this sprite so I'd appreciate any feedback.

Hmm, I wonder what happened here.

Once again its nothing exciting but it works.

Yeah that makes total sense

Not as exciting as I originally intended but it works.

Sorry for the lack of news. I got a little burnt out and ended up taking a break. Here's a new sprite though.

Just in case you wanted to see this (Sorry for the low framerate)

Some concept art that no one wanted to see. And yes I know I have no artistic ability.

New Update: Version 0.0.3 is an incredibly small update. It contains graphics for the moving platform, crate and teleporter objects. I know it is very small and underwhelming but I decided to release the graphics on their own as it is an important update.

Runestones: from concept to in-game model🗿
