I've been thinking of making an Adventure-styled 2D fan game that is also a crossover story. However, since my main priority is an original project, this will not be worked on until that's finished.

I won't reveal anything about it yet, but consider this a teaser. Any ideas I come up with for this project will be written down for future use, since working on two projects at once is not healthy for me.

I just hope I can make this project work and make sense. Here are some things I'd like to do.

  • There will be multiple campaigns like Adventure, but there will be significant differences between boss fights fought by more than one character to keep them from getting boring.

  • There will be fixes to many issues from the classic games and Adventure-styled mechanics.

  • Each character will have a varied moveset that is simple to input. For example, Sonic will have the Drop Dash, Super Peel Out, Homing Attack/Air Dash, Insta-Shield, and both Spin Dashes, but will all be easy to activate and use.

  • The Sonic characters' designs are a mix of their classic and Adventure designs.

  • The other characters that I won't reveal yet will have a design more chibi-like and simplified. They will also be designed based on their canon designs alongside designs based on what they reference.

  • There will be cutscenes and voice acting. I hope it won't be cheesy to the point of being cringeworthy, but to the point it gets the point. They are based on visual novel dialogue mechanics and can be skipped at any time.

  • There will be many Item Monitors (or Capsules if toggled in the settings), including but not limited to Rings of any amount from 1 to 100 (or 50 if you want a challenge), Power Sneakers, Invincibility, various Shields (including an ice-based one that I'm still thinking about what its special ability is), Eggman's Monitors, 1-UPs, Smart Bombs, and many more.

  • A wide variety of zones and hub worlds that are easy to navigate and are small but full of secrets and little details.

  • The characters have major roles in the story, like Tails actually does as much as Sonic despite not being as powerful as him.

  • Eggman will be a true threat alongside the true main antagonist. The true antagonist is vile and has an interesting backstory.

  • The story can vary from lighthearted, to dark, to funny, to emotional, and other moods depending on the situation. There is also lore that will be easy to piece together even though it seems complex at first.

  • The music will consist entirely of remixes. These remixes will include Sonic music, the other series' music (but in the style of Sonic to keep the flow of the levels and worlds), music that fits the worlds' references, and other music that would be used in optional extra levels.

There may be other things I'd like to do, but I can't remember them. I hope this project will come into fruition, be fun to play, and be enjoyable. I hope to keep the spirit of Sonic, the other series, and any other references included in this idea.

P.S. The very idea of this crossover was thought of on February 9, 2022.

Since no one is guessing any letters that could be in the text below the image, I'm just going to have to reveal it bit by bit.

Artoon seems like it was very underrated game development company even when very key people worked there.

Naoto Ohshima, the one who originally designed Sonic the Hedgehog and Dr. Eggman, founded (or at least co-founded) this company.

This week's #FanArtFriday celebrates Sonic.EXE!

Complete the quest and you'll get a Sonic pack!
