I've seen Super Mario Galaxy, 6/10 I liked it, but it's not perfect, it has a very rushed pace, some filler scenes Like the Joshi and the dinosaur, and a shallow story. Objectively speaking, the first movie was better, but I really enjoyed this one 
To be honest, I partly understand the criticism, why people consider it inferior to the first one, and why one critic says, “It’s made for the YouTube Shorts audience.” Given the pace and how things keep happening all the time, it does feel that way, so I don’t blame them.
Seriously, when I watched the first 25 minutes of the movie, I thought about 40 minutes had passed lol
I’ve never played Mario Galaxy, so I’m not the right person to say whether it was a good adaptation or not
