Yesterday, May 27th, 2024 (Memorial Day)

Brutus had to be put down/euthenized (To put a living being, especially a dog or cat, to death humanely.) due to health complications involving diabetes which is rare and really hard to treat in dogs. Had he been kept alive, he could've gone blind, suffered kidney failure, and more. So after making a hard choice, he was put down yesterday.

He was a good dog, and an even better friend. He would sit there and listen. He would help you if you were feeling down. He would rip your hand off it there was food involved.

It's tough to come to terms with how I may never see him again, but I know I gotta keep going. It's what he would want me to do. I just wish I could've been there for him in his last moments, but I let my cowardice get the better of me. I regret never getting to say goodbye. I regret never getting to see him, but I don't think I would've been able to see him off. I just hope he knows how much I love him, despite not seeing him.

Brutus, I love you. You were there when things were tough and I wish we could've played more. You were more than a pet to me. You were a friend, there until the bitter end.
