The Female Link Jam was a game jam inspired by the idea of Link, the main character of The Legend of Zelda being female! Nintendo released a new image of Link at E3, which looks very feminine. Fans everywhere erupted with the prospect of Link being female in the new game. Nintendo then released a statement saying that Link is not female or male, but instead is the avatar of the person playing the game. Everything went back to normal, until Hyrule Warriors official art book released a picture of a female badass meant to be Link’s younger sister; Linkle. This started a big stir of female Link fan art as well as an outcry for female Link games. This jam was inspired by all of these events, letting developers make the female Link fans dreamed of. The theme of this jam was, of course, a female protagonist and a general feel of the games of Zelda or Link. I recorded all of the games in my video compilation series. Below are some of my favorites, in a random order.

The Zelda Within You are Lulu Pinkhair, the lead investigator of the Stockpot Inn, a mysterious motel that visitors never return from. This is your first major case and the Innkeeper is not keen on helping you out, so you are forced to stay a night in this mysterious place and find out what is going on for yourself. After just one supper and one night in this Inn, strange things start happening… Can you survive the crazy puzzles that await this unique horror-esque game?

Legend of Zelda: Land of the Lost Leaves is a RPG game about a harvest maden named Link. Link is given the task of awakening the goddesses of the harvest, to ensure a plentiful crop. She must set off with her trusty corgi Navi, to find these goddesses. Soon after she will come face to face with a dangerous demon. To level the playing field, you will be able to pick up a scythe. Be ready, once you grab that weapon, more enemies will appear. To continue onwards with your quest, you must kill the demon as well as the minions that it summons. This long quest involves unlocking towers, talking to trees, and even playing tag with children. It is quite difficult, with its own challenges along the way. If you are to die, your corgi, Navi, can be controlled to defeat the enemies around you. Good luck waking the goddesses for a good harvest. If you fail, the town will not have enough food to survive.

Linkle’s Archery Training is an adorable casual game where you can run around and shoot enemies. You play as Link’s younger sister, Linkle in a simple but charming forest full of cute enemies. Have fun prancing around, killing enemies with your bow and arrow. Be sure to let your arrows rest, they will need to charge from time to time. Other than that, explore and kill!

Hotline Hyrule is a Hotline Miami-Zelda mix that brings both Link and Zelda together! Ganondorf is a pimp looking to become the mayor of Hyrule and must be stopped. Both Link and Zelda must work together and fight through six floors of Ganon Tower, to challenge Ganondorf. Zelda, with her gun, is able to take enemies out long range. Link, with her trusty sword, is able to kill close enemies. Make your way through this hub of crime to the man behind it all. If one of these people are killed, the game is over and you must restart. Can you make it to the top?
