Greetings again!
During the quiet moments of our work, we've constructed quite a lot of progress regarding the gameplay mechanics and all its alternative routes.
We think it is the correct moment to demonstrate what we've accomplished after a lengthy period of quietness.
JAPARITALE'S ALTERNATIVE ROUTE
During the first years of development, the sole individual to work on the game would be me, without fitting knowledge about Kemono Friends and how everything made sense.
The genocide route was once planned but then discarded after conclusions with me and my team members. After all this, we've determined to construct a unique route named the Hesitation Route.
What is the Hesitation Route? How does it function? It's pretty straightforward. Kaban can harm Friends when she senses that she's in trouble. After some "small portion" of attacking and harming, Friends spare you and give up their desire to battle.
Note that it doesn't function on all the Friends though, like Zebra-chan in an instance. We'll come to that right after.
ALTERNATIVE AND UNIQUE FEATURES
During the development, we had to implement a unique system alike the dating screen from UNDERTALE.
Being able to FIGHT and presumably even get a GAME OVER would be odd, thus causing us to have to tinker a bit for proper implementation of a simple dialogue between Kaban and Zebra-chan.
We believe it's the best answer to an obstacle like this either way.
REVAMPED AREAS
Another instance we've developed is the new location Kaban encounters an extraterrestrial-shaped foe, known as CELLIENS.
Although we aren't precisely certain why the animation series' shows KABAN waking up in a cavern akin to UNDERTALE's, we had to find a solution that led to this.
Although this is the only thing we can display as of currently, we hope to recreate the areas from the animation series soon.
THE SOURCE CODE IS ON GITHUB!
We believe we've spoken this numerous times to the public, but just in case you desire to contribute to its development, check out our GitHub repository. Early access to the gameplay requires compiling inside the IDE.
We're aware the announcement has taken a plenty more than we presumed but we hope to update everyone regarding our variation on JAPARITALE soon.
Until then, have a nice day!
