It's July now! Safe to say, I think I'm doing alright with this whole monthly devlog thing.
Anyway, this will be a shorter devlog, because unfortunately nothing all to major has happened with the project so far. The main things that I've been working on are -
Fleshing out the towns you'll be able to visit in the demo
Changing or fully reworking some scenes I wasn't entirely happy with
Some secret little side activities that will be in the demo
Finishing the ending of chapter 1
Those have been the main things I've been working on for the past month. But even then while those things are still important, I feel that I'm still neglecting the two biggest things that I will need to tackle at some point. So I plan on focusing most of my efforts on those going into the coming months. The two really BIG things that I'm gonna be putting a lot more focus into are the soundtrack and the plot.
As of now the soundtrack are just ideas in my head, unfortunately I still haven't put pen to paper, and the story is still just a jumble of note and hasty ideas.
Therefore, my current plan is to first get the story structure down and out before I put all my attention into the soundtrack and the game itself. The story has gone through many iterations over the years, and I plan on putting together all my notes and ideas into one I'm really proud.
Most of the soundtrack I plan on making right now, will be general tracks like -
Main theme
Battle theme
Game over theme
Town theme(s)
I'm going to hold off on starting work on songs for specific scene until I get the story outline finished.
With that, the July devlog has come to an end.
Those are my plans going into the future. Despite everything I've said about "changing focus" and "reworking this and that" I'm still extremely confident that the story demo will be out by at least march of next year. You know how much I dislike giving dates I'm not all that confident in, but I'm damn sure that I can get this demo out the door by march of next year, and the full game to follow...
With Thanks,
