I know that Nintendo is like very protective or their IP and would pretty much sue anyone regarding for that, but it’s not a Nintendo exclusive thing, like most most other Japanese companies act similar too since copyright laws work differently there too(even if most of it is pretty odd)
Like especially in like the anime and manga territories but like even other companies are similar even out of Japan, like Viacom being pretty similar sometimes and especially Warner Bros too
