For me, music is the only hobby of mine that I can realistically see myself continuing in the future. I’ve loved music, from the day I gained consciousness, I was already singing “Glad you came” while eating pasta TvT, and if you love music, you’ve done something similar before
Music, to me, is so important. It’s a special connection between friends, like what artists you both like, your fav genres, comparing tastes to me is so interesting. You get to learn a lot more than you think about someone from their taste alone.
There are so many up and coming producers nowadays, to the fact that now every bodies friend group has a guy who makes music in it. And to me, this is exciting. Yet, I wanna make my stuff stand out. In the end, it’s about what you do. I’ve been known to take inspiration from other artists or whatever. Hell, the album I announced was literally a re-skin of Igor (thanks to @JigsawProductions for pointing that out ToT)
But now, I’ve realized what I really need to do. The feedback I’ve been getting is helping me understand MORE about the music industry. It’s not to be “unique and offbeat” like Tyler, The Creator, or be “moody and melancholy” like Gorillaz. You gotta have your own sound. And sure, ig some inspiration is great… but if you really wanna succeed… something tells me you gotta be you.
With that out of the way… time to cancel that fuck ass album and start over. I shouldn’t have even announced it. There was one song that was half produced… and it was shit. I don’t know what I was thinking. But now I do.
Goodnight, Minnesota
