The Sandscape formed when the flash caused a sandstorm to hit this part of Olathe. Many were buried under the sands but some also survived. Plenty left the Sandscape once the sandstorms ended but many stayed behind. Why? Well beneath the sands lies the Olathe Metro. The metro was originally discovered as a huge cave system that runs through Olathe, a famous engineer one day thought that he could turn this cave system into a extravagant metro that simultaneously gets people to where they need to go while giving them a wonderful view of these natural caves. The project fell through due to protests and inefficient funding leaving the metro mostly unfinished. When the cold war picked up, the metro was converted into a nuclear shelter, stocked with lots of food and medicine to survive through a nuclear war and possibly the fallout after, the caves being spacious and sturdy enough to protect the citizens of Olathe. Fast forward to the sandstorm, many saw people escaping into the Olathe metro while the sandstorm raged on. When the storm settled, many lost love ones to the storm, however there was hope that they could be in the Olathe Metro. Those who stayed dedicated their life to finding this metro, eventually, a cult even formed that stated that there may be woman in the metro as some people state that they've seen a woman running for shelter during the chaos of the storm. Years after the flash, the locals of the sandscape keep digging, hoping that the bunker truly has enough supplies to truly shelter people for years.
