Hello again,
Oh dear - Changes.
Yup, changes. For the next couple of months we’re rebranding our gamepage so that it fits better with our current image of the game. We’ve come a long way since the gamejam so this is very much necessary.
What are the changes then?
First of all, we’re beginning with the name. ‘Petting a Cat in the midst of the Post Apocalypse’ isn’t a title that easily rolls off the tongue. For now we’re renaming it to just ‘PCP’ (‘Pet-Cat-Pocalypse’), since that’s the acronym I’ve been using most oftenly. We’ll give the game a proper name at the end of its production.
We’re changing the visuals of the gamepage so that it corresponds with what you’ll be seeing in the actual game.
The description will change and will probably become a bit more revealing when it comes to the new version of the game. ;) wink
Maybe some extra content that we want to share? I’m not sure on what that would be. We’ll see…
Just to clarify, we’re not ‘deleting’ the gamejam version nor its content from the gamepage. It’ll stay there and help show off the evolution of our game.
Also, the changes won’t happen over night. We’ll implement changes runningly over the next month or so.
How’s the game coming along, though?
Pretty good. We’ve added a lot of rooms to the game’s first setting. Some of the dialogue and events have even been implemented. Still pretty rough around the edges, but we’ll give a little peak. Tiny-tiny :-)
Check out The Code Corner!
The Code Corner
It’s about code. It’s the coder segment of the devlog. REVOLUTIONARY!!!
I asked the game’s programmer (@RocketBoyweee ) what inputs he had for the devlog. Here’s what we got, quote:
“I’ve put together art and scene assets in game and set up much of the functionality for the first level, which includes 4 rooms that the player can navigate between.
Much of the dialogue for the first level has also been inserted into the game. Many events throughout the level have been coded into the game that the player can trigger while progressing, which include interacting with objects around the scene and speaking to NPCs. An introduction video clip has also been inserted at the beginning of the game. There has also been a lot of back end development for interactable objects, as well as some bug fixing for movement, dialogue and inventory item placement.”
Cool and good.
That wraps it up for this month. What’s next month’s subject?
“Bathroom Documentation” 🚽
Trust me, it’s less awful than what it sounds like.
O K, Bye.
