Looking back... (+Question)

UPDATE: Seeing as I’ve already responded to someone who asked, I’d like to say I have no plans to put the mfa file of this game out for personal reasons. I hope you all understand.

Hello everyone. I know it’s been a while since I’ve posted anything on Gamejolt, which is no more obvious when looking at the last devlog I made.

I seriously can’t believe all of these games have surpassed that mark nine times over, and I hope anyone who played them enjoyed them half as much as I did making them.

But between making those games and now, I’ve grown more observant of what I want to do going forward. I haven’t been working on any games since i finished the third Lucky47 game, and I would love to change that, but I have far less free time than I did two years ago. If and when I release something, I want it to be a noticeable improvement over what I made in the past.

I don’t want to come off as a cynic who doesn’t appreciate what I made before. I just want you to understand what these games mean to me. I had a lot of fun working on them, not just because I enjoy FNaF and many of its fan games, but because I was actually making games. For the first time, I was doing something I had wanted to do since I was a kid. I view these games as my own learning experiences, and the thing I appreciate most from them was the constructive feedback I received for each and every one of them.

So with all that out of the way, there is something I’d like to ask you guys. A user posted a comment on this game asking if they could have the .mfa file (the filetype Clickteam Fusion uses) of this game.

At this point, I don’t feel a need to preserve the game as my own. If people can look through the files of the game and learn something from them, I’d be more than willing to publicly release it. But before I do, I want to know if anyone is even interested in it.

But I do want to address four things. One: All three of these games were learning experiences, and the files for the games are not properly organized to convey what a sequence of events may serve for the whole picture

Two: I don’t talk much with my friend Lucas much anymore, nor my cousin Josh, who I represented in the game as members of ‘Lucky47.’ Nothing negative has particularly happened, but what we all wanted to do with that name (Lucky47) never really came into fruition, and we all have moved on with our lives.

Three: If I do release the game, please don’t use the games’ files or scripts directly to make your own game. I realize that by putting the .mfa out there for anyone to have, I am giving up all control I have over it; I’m making this more as a personal request. I recommend you try to understand the code, as well as try to find a better, more optimized way, to make your own game.

And four: I don’t know what the future holds for Lucky47. I have always wanted to make a fourth game as a way of showing what I have learned from making these games, but my ideas for it have always been too ambitious for me to create. Considering all the time that has passed since then, I don’t know how many people would go back to play a new [Lucky47] game, and I don’t want to say that something WILL happen, only to stick my foot in my mouth when I go back on it. I can be certain of one thing though; If I do make a fourth game, it will be the last one.

I’ll be posting a new devlog over on ‘Five Nights at Lucky47 3’ today, as a way of addressing how I feel and what is going on. It’s mostly going to be a retelling of this devlog with a link to this game to see the new post.

Well, that’s everything I wanted to say about this. Thank you for reading this, and for playing the games I’ve made. I sincerely appreciate it.

See you next time!

The teaser images from the second game when brightened have hidden text and images to them. I doubt anyone has ever taken the time to do so, so here they are.

CAM05 Inspiration (First Game)

Does this whole thing work?

And here's the teasers from the third game, also brightened.

These ones don't have nearly as many secrets in them, and they're all based on ones from FNaF 3, quite blatantly.

Here's all the jump-scares from the first game.

When you transition to the current night in the second game, there's a 1 in 300 chance of a rare screen to show up. These images bear no story significance, but... they exist, I suppose.

Here's the hallucinations the player can randomly see in the first game; These also contain some plot-important info, which is something I wanted to elaborate on more.

This is an animated gif of John Sr. walking behind the window in the third game; Since his legs would have been obscured, they were never actually drawn.

Just as Pecaminosa's musicians #improvise this rendition of #LittleSunflower 🌻, so do we improvise with this post you're reading. 😂

What's coming out of your own improvs? 🤔
