My reasoning is that, looking back, my fursona looks VASTLY different than it does now! Which, honestly kind of baffles me. Most changes, other than oh yknow.. adding hair because Astro looked bald asf, all changes were subconscious.
Did you know, that my fursona Astro used to be purple rather than pink? The colour has slowly changed over time! Its funny, because Ive always thought of myself as the funni purple space cat, and I still do, but I, Astro, am now clearly pink...
Another thing Id like to note is the eyes. Its taken me a loooong time to get them right. The first rendition didnt even have pupils, just two big holes with a slightly different purple colour. It didnt have much character, and it certainly wasnt good enough for whenever I wanted to portray emotion, so a change was in order. My 2nd rendition had extremely large pupils, which looked sort of weird... I also did not enjoy the colour. There simply wasnt enough contrast!
Then, my 3rd iteration, only phased out last year, where Astro had almost white, foggy pupils. It looked rather bland and boring, and it was too complex. There were so many different shades in the pupils, and the pupils didnt contrast the rest of the eyes nearly enough.
That brings me to the final iteration, which you can see in my latest works as well as my profile picture! This, I am quite happy with :3
Astro has also undergone many more slight changes, such as body proportions, the inclusion of whiskers, and of course facial proportions. Its funny to think that I, have been working on this one character for over FOUR YEARS. MAYBE EVEN FIVE. WHAT?!
Haha, anyway, to conclude my "little" rant, sometime in the future Id like to draw the first iteration of my fursona next to the newest, to look back at what my beloved character used to look at, and look forward to what it does, and might look like. I dont plan on making many more changes to Astro, but I do think it might be fun to add a bit more nuance to the design. Many of my previous designs have featured things like different shades of pink/purple for different body parts, patterns, a sort of "rift" like a nebula in the stomach, and many more. I like keeping Astro's design simple and malleable, but I also love experimenting!
Ah, anyway, thanks for reading! I look forward to drawing more
