Merry Christmas!

Year Retrospective and Small Blog post

Here's a little blog post I thought I'd write up, been a long year and what not

So Winoa released, My first ever videogame. Before 2024 I hadn't written a single line of code, I had tried making games in GB studio and Scratch, little visual coding stuff ofcourse but that's hardly an actual language to produce something commercially. And yet, I had an idea to make a game, that idea wasn't Winoa LOL. But of course I still had to learn, I need a certain level of skill to bring my ideas to life, and I'd like to think I'm getting there. The release of Winoa means a lot to me, My first ever game. Do I have regrets, second thoughts, different ideas? Yeah, Who doesn't, but still. I made a game and that's got to mean something.

I feel like now is the more important stuff to talk about though, Tailgunner: The Allgunner. Compared to The Allgunner, Winoa is nothing more than Chump Change. A full blown 3D JRPG with Sprite work, I've had to learn a lot since Winoa, even if it was due to my own stubbornness. TGA was meant to be a small game, It started life as an NES game, Then it became an Isometric game, then it became a Topdown game, then it became a 3D Voxel game, then it became a PS1 game. All because I couldn't compromise on my visions, Take that as you will ofcourse.

Another part of learning TGA is also learning to make music, I've released a few of that onto YouTube and Bandcamp too (My favourite released work being "Reactor Rage Rush" and "Let me fade into Nothing") and well, I've learnt a lot. I went from struggling to make Chiptune music to I'd say making some competent sounding metal songs (Which I hope to show off soon as I reveal more of TGA). This year has been a lot about learning really, even when you're out of school you never stop finding out new stuff. Another thing that music has made me realise is the appreciation for everyone who actually makes it, WOW it is TOUGH lol. I started learning guitar a few months ago and my fingers ache, after every lesson I'd head home and wince with every key pressed, It's still fun though.

Working on things really just makes me appreciate art more and more. Before this year all I really did was drawing. Now I draw, code, write music, do pixel art and write stories. In an age of technology where Human Creation and Connection is being wiped free, its important to hold onto what little stuff there is out there, to appreciate the hardwork people still put in, and to create truly amazing stuff aswell.

So where does that leave us? leave me? Tailgunner: The Allgunner and Fire Fallow Games? I'm going to be working hard on Tailgunner, trust me. I was doing pixelart on Christmas fucking eve I do not know when to stop. 2026 I'm hoping to post more things, get more stuff out there. TGA's demo will release next year I can promise you that. Also, Im gonna start posting about the cool shit I find. Sure I may be small, but it's nice to talk about the things you like. If the library of Alexandria is burning down before us, I'm going to make the most of it before I'm consumed by the ash.

Enjoy the holidays, Have fun, And Merry Christmas!
