HUGE fan of the live actors. I understand others would have rather had it animated, but the blend between real-world and animated world is very strong and gives more of a story to the characters. Although the plot did not directly go with the already established lore, it was still very good. The references to concepts in Minecraft, like water buckets were a bit simple, but that is exactly the best way it could have been done. Character development, conflict, and overall design was really well-done. DanTDM cameo and Technoblade references were extremely well done and pays tribute. Technoblade never dies.
My grandparents took me to see this movie, and although they have never heard of Minecraft, they were huge fans of the movie, and this was due to the casting of Jack Black and others. Simply put, in order to succeed as a movie, not only does it need to attract an audience already familiar with Minecraft, but it also needs to draw a new audience, and that's what the casting does. A fully animated movie simply would have been boring.

All in all, here are my ratings as a very unqualified Minecraft fan

Plot: 9/10 (Plot makes full sense and was good, but was slightly all over the place at times)
Character Development: 10/10 (Very strong and builds relations with characters)
Cameos: 9/10 (Dan and Techno were very good, but I would've liked to see more)
References to Game: 10/10 (Included most well-known concepts and funny moments regarding them)
Acting: 9/10 (Jack Black was hilarious. Jason was good and his personality was funny most of the time, but a few moments felt unnecessary)
Casting: 10/10 (All casting did a great job and will likely attract a new audience)
Music: 10/10 (Good and kept tension when needed)
Animation: 10/10 (Quality animation and is what Minecraft would look like as a movie, very fuzzy)
Personal Bias Points: 1,000,000/10 (I like Minecraft, and I like movies, this is extremely unbiased guys!!!)
