Hey guys, time for another Monthly Update Post!
For the past month, I have been focusing mainly on finishing up 3 AM and starting the long work on 5 AM. Bug testing for 1 AM - 4 AM has also been going very smoothly, with barely any bugs being found. (At least not any serious ones)
3 AM Development:
I gave you all a little preview of 3 AM in last months update, but now I’ve finished up the main AI for the hour. It wasn’t extremely difficult to code, but now I have to make sure the Hour is actually possible for the player. Hoping that it doesn’t make things too difficult, but still adding a bit more challenge to the hour. If any of you haven’t guessed by now, 3 AM will be the last hour where a new enemy is introduced, so 4 AM will just be an hour where everyone moves slightly faster. I feel this will make getting used to the 3 AM enemy a lot easier, as you won’t have to just worry about another one immediately after 3 AM ends.
5 AM Development:
5 AM was the hour that I knew I was going to dread. Not due to overly complicated AI, or a dislike of the gameplay, but just because I knew I was going have to make new code for the entire hour. 5 AM will be a completely different experience compared to the first 7 hours, with a new enemy and completely different gameplay style. I’ve finished up the concepts and ideas for the hour, and I have gotten about 10% of the way through the graphics and code for the night. I hope that once I get through most of the code, it works properly and doesn’t have too many game breaking bugs to fix!
Side project Development:
In the last update, I also mentioned how there was a part of this game that I thought should be made into its own little side project. Well I’m happy to announce that this side project, know being known as “The Sullivan Story:
Memory Maze” Will be releasing soon before the main game!
(Image may not reflect how the game looks in the final version)
This mini project will release before Treasure Island, and will be a little pacman styled game where you must go around a maze, and find little ‘Memories’ that will help you better understand the story behind this series. It will give graphics to some of the scenes from the ‘Prologue’ story that was released a couple of months ago, while also adding some scenes from the story that was were not fully fleshed out. Each of the memories will be fully voice acted, and will have images to accompany what is happening in each scene. I’m hoping to release it sometime in April, potentially on the anniversary of the series, however anything can happen!
I hope that you all can wait just a little bit longer for this game to release, as it is very close to its final release. And remember that you can always check the progress by checking the description on the main page for the game!
Until Next Time,
Josh
