The biggest advantage of the new pathfinding system is that Bonnie and Chica are no longer limited to the left or right side of the building respectively. While Bonnie still favors the left side, and Chica still favors the right, they can both attack you from any angle (left, right, or in front of you). You can see this on display in the attached screenshot (the blue square is Bonnie, the bottom middle green circle is where the player is located).
