Okay. I've been thinking about him since August, when I started this whole AU thing. Although I was hesitant to share it because, compared to Harlan, Alfred might seem like a total edgylord (although who among us hasn't acted stupid at 12 but whatever).
Alfred is Alice's grandson. He didn't have a siblings, but his mother died in the same circumstances as Margaret's in canon. His mother's death also serves as the starting point for Alfred's subsequent pain.
As for his father, he grew distant toward his own son after his wife's death and either neglected him or abused him. Although Alice participated in his grandson's upbringing and tried to keep the family together, he couldn't do so permanently due to disagreements with his son and other financial and work issues.
Unlike Harlan, Alfred is very embittered and impulsive. At least, he tries to hide his passivity behind outbursts of emotion. Most of all, he tries to escape loneliness and total neglect by trying to be with anyone, which in reality either leads to nothing or exacerbates his trust issues and the ridicule (loneliness is his main trauma, besides his father's negligent attitude toward raising his son).
In fact, this all drove him to the point of shooting himself.
Honestly, I didn't quite understand how much Lake and Harlan were a single entity in canon. But if these two complement each other, then Alfred is a parasite for Oscar, whom he hates, and Alfred forces him to do things Oscar doesn't want (Like kill. I just know that canon Oscar wouldn't commit murder, so the swap Oscar is quite reasonable and neutral, albeit rude. All the aggression and perverted thoughts come from Alfred).
The point of these two is that they are completely different, and Alfred saw his new face in Oscar. Completely different, not pathetic, but better and more confident than himself. Because he hated himself and dreamed of being anyone but himself, and he wore his mask to the very end, running from his past and his "true self".
(I also like the idea that Alfred in true ending was a burned and broken robot, and only then revealed his true body. Aggression gives way to sobbing.)
I may have been a bit vague, but if you have any questions, please let me know.
I also want to share and draw pictures of other children who were victims, so if you're interested, I'll do that.
