During their birthday at Bondees Barnyard, the child comes across the one and only Bondee, who offers them a cake but is set ablaze by the candles (this is seen in the hour 4 cutscene). In a sudden panic, everyone in the establishment evacuates except the child who is now separated from their parents. As stated by the beginning cutscene which explains the security system that the animatronics have, Kou will look after any lost child who is separated from their parents. The child then climbs inside Kou and Bondees Barnyard SV begins.
