NEW UPDATE - v1.0.3

Features plenty of optimization and small gameplay changes!

Hey everyone!

Sorry this patch took a bit. I figured instead of ironing out each issue one patch at a time, I would tackle all of the most critical problems first and save less important changes for later.

The most important aspect of this patch is optimization. All testers have reported much smoother performance. I've even reached out to some people who were unable to run the game previously, and they now say the game runs well with the latest patch. If you couldn't run the non-potato version of the game previously, or couldn't run it at all, give it another shot!

Note: Old save files will not work with this new version, but don't worry! Info on how to get your progress back will be at the end of this article.

Massive, massive thanks to @Stojo for his assistance. Without him, this patch would've taken way longer.

Changelog:

  • Base .zip size decreased to 1.1GB.

  • Added texture groups, allowing the game to swap between textures more efficiently and the game to run way smoother.

  • Heavily decreased the lag caused by jumpscares.

  • Changed the size of most animated sprites, reducing lag further.

  • Sprites are now prefetched at the start of the night in addition to during the loading screen, reducing lagspikes during gameplay.

  • Added a new, .ini-based save file system. The old save file system made updating the game without compromising the save difficult. This new save format will be far more future-proof.

  • Added game over screen tips! There are 17 total.

  • Removed manual window scaling keys in windowed mode in favor of allowing the window to be resized freely.

  • Adjusted the Nights 1-5 difficulty curve.

  • Adjusted the volume of the 20 mode theme.

  • Fixed an issue where the 20 mode theme would continue to play when overheating.

  • Fixed an issue where Toy Bonnie and Toy Chica could attack during the Night 1 call.

  • Fixed an issue where the fade in/out animations would flicker.

  • Fixed an issue where graphics such as static would be visible off-screen.

  • Renamed the "Potato Ed." to the "Compressed Ver." to more accurately reflect what it changes.

  • Updated the README of both versions, give it another read!

Now, about the save files. Yes, old save files will no longer work with the new version, but worry not!

CLICK HERE to be taken to an archive of replacement save files. Included is a .txt file with instructions on how to use them, and an explanation as to what each save file contains.

It may not be a perfect solution, but you'll only need to do this once! All future versions of the game will utilize this same save file.

Despite a rocky start, thank you all for the kind words about the game! It means a lot to me. Hopefully things will run smoother from now on!

Thank you, and enjoy!

-Mikel

This should help those having issues launching/running the game, this version features sprite sheets 1/4 the size of the base game.

More builds on the way!

Soon.

FE:S but epic!

Special thanks to @psonday , who foolishly entrusted me with his Toy Chica model after losing a TF2-related bet.

Less than a week until release! To take a trip down memory lane, and since I found the files again, here's the evolution of the FF:S/FE:S Office, from 2017 to 2022!

Thank you all for 9k followers! Your support has been absolutely amazing. :)

We're 48 hours away from launch! See you soon... ;)

The game is now out!

It's been 2 years, 9 months, and 23 days since the game page was made live. After a long and grueling development process, a cancelation, and a un-cancelation, I'm happy to say that we're done.

Enjoy the game!
