Hey everyone! Well. This month is the month. We’ve finally made it to release month! We’re in the final stretch and this will be the final devlog you guys see from me for a long while until Chapter 2! Before we get into all of that, let’s talk about what’s been going on since the final trailer!
Trailer Reactions!
I am so excited and thankful for the massive positive reception of the final trailer! I worked day in and day out to keep my promise of offering a trailer for July. And I’m happy to say I delivered! So many of you seemed so excited to see this whole new experience, and I’m so excited for everyone to play both this game and its levels! Of course, it still needs time in the oven, but we’re almost there! More on that later ;) But I wanna thank you all for putting up with my horrible voice acting to endure a trailer of other cool stuff that was shown off.
Achievements
So. Achievements. These are being delayed to Chapter Two to reduce on development time. We also have to deal with them a certain way, now that we know that most Gamejolt API plugins are not working anymore for the most part (RPG Maker MV is basically outdated since MZ dropped) So we gotta make the achievements built in! More on that when the day comes.
Status on the levels
All of the levels are done! They’ve been properly tested by some wonderful people I’ve reached out to behind the scenes, and I have received lots of feedback and positive reviews! So far everyone that’s tested these levels have loved them! And I couldn’t be more glad to hear! I put a lot of thought into not just the gameplay, but the decoration, the environment movements, how they relate to the main story, and even the coin placements! (This was the hardest part but I really think I nailed it with pretty much all of them!) The levels are done and are fully working in game! (DISCLAIMER: They are not playable in the RPG Game, just in Geometry Dash separately. Sorry my wording is a little weird here, just trying to avoid saying something that could get all the levels leaked lol) But rest assured everything at the moment works smoothly in terms of Free Play. Story Mode wise, it’ll be added later on during development! Oh yeah! That reminds me!
Blast to the Past DLC Levels have returned! And some stuff on Free Play
That’s right! The 2 Levels from Blast to the Past will be returning to the full game! As a matter of fact, they’re currently fully implemented at the moment! They’re completely done, and I even put out an update to the levels that fixes a few things and adds very slight tweaks in decoration! Nothing too crazy, they’re still relatively the same, but they are there! If you kept a hold onto them in your saved levels, you probably noticed that an update did come out. If so, you can play it now! If you beat them, you’ve probably noticed that there is in fact no code at the end. And that is because I’ve changed it so that Free Play Levels will not offer rewards! Free Play will just be a way to easily access the Level ID’s of a level. (Until they stop being exclusive that is. Otherwise it’ll just be easy to search up lol). But yeah, They’re coming back! And if you managed to save them you can play them right now! Have fun to those that kept the ID’s! :) To those that didn’t they’ll be playable in the full version!
About Mobile Port
One thing I wanted to mention was the possibility of the Mobile Port being delayed a tiny bit. I plan to release all PC Ports the day of, but I want to bring up the possibility that the Android Mobile port might be pushed back a bit. But Don’t worry! The port will mostly just be pushed back a day or two. It all depends on when Nexitron gets done. The mobile port has to be completely modified because certain elements in the game do not work on mobile for whatever reason. But if it does get pushed back, don’t be surprised! Just wanted to let people know.
Also, I’ve had people ask me for a possible IOS port, and unfortunately we aren’t able to get this on IOS devices. However, the levels will be made in normal Geometry Dash, so while the RPG may not be available, the levels will certainly be available to everyone! (...As long as you have the game of course).
This Month’s Additions (And exciting news!!)
These past few days surely have been a long few! I’ve been hard at work with multiple things. Artwork, Game Developing, Contacting outside people, Playtesting moderation, and bug fixing. Rest assured tons of things have been finally added in! However, I am proud to announce that the game, for the most part. THE GAME IS 95% DONE!!!! Since the trailer, I’ve added TONS of things. New story elements, Photo Gallery, more music, finalized the quest system, secrets and easter eggs, and I believe I perfected the balancing in batttles!
The reason it is 95% and not 100%, is because the game is filled with a few placeholders. Specifically, the cutscenes and the battle backgrounds. Today I start on the Cutscenes, and I have another artist working on the Battle backgrounds (I’m terrible at scenery so I got him to do the backgrounds!) So I’m still waiting on those from him! Once I get those though, I’m instantly implementing them into the game.
The Final Stretch and a thank you.
These next few days I’m gonna have to definitely lock in, and work my rear end off to get this thing on the day I want it to! However, I think I can say with full confidence, that this game is getting released on my expected deadline. WE’RE SO CLOSE GUYS! As to all of you, whether you were here when this was code named “Project: N,” Or you played the Lost Levels Collection Tech Demo, or even arriving after the Chapter One Trailer, I wanna say thank you to all of you for supporting this big passion project of mine. At the start, this was just a silly little idea I had out of boredom, but now, it’s become a giant love letter and celebration of Geometry Dash and it’s history over the years. And a big giant XOXO to the community as well! Especially to the people who have known about us since “Geometry Dash: Biohazard.” (We hope that thing burns to the ground but we still gotta acknowledge it’s significance) and our progression to today. So once again. Thank you all. I hope this project is one that everyone plays and loves. In both the storytelling of the RPG, and the fun and exciting gameplay of the levels! Thank you all for being fans. GRIMKITTY Productions promises to deliver awesome experiences! And we know this one is a Geometry Dash experience like no other!
So sit tight! We’re in the launch month! Expect our next post to be talking about the release. :)
