Nezzon Development - Basic Level Progression

The player character and basic platforming was all added today. This was easy because it’s using a build from a previous game. The jetpack is also up and active, but I haven’t completely decided how much fuel you should get before you have to land again (think spelunky).

Although this sounds less notable, I also added level exits which are randomly placed. The game is constructed in a grid format, the first floor will be six rooms in total (subject to change) and this increases every floor by one (also subject to change, but probably won’t). Obviously floors get big fast. There will be a hard limit at some point, but it’s currently unlimited. I’ll make the limit at whatever point I feel you’d need a map to not get lost. So less than 32 and more than 24.

Tomorrow I’ll work on level variety including randomized spikes, boss placements (no enemies.. yet), and item placement. If I have time I’ll also start on stats such as health, base damage, combo, and score. Score wasn’t in Neon Blitz, hopefully I’ll be able to integrate it onto gamejolt ;D. I’ll be posting screenshots soon hopefully, once I add enemies. And if you’re wondering how this game looks, think utopica from within a deep forest, except less confusing. Enemies will be similar to this, sort of like geometry wars except more varied.

I'm developing a new commercial game with a small team! A demo will be coming to steam soon, but you can wishlist it in the meantime if you're into deckbuilding / autobattlers / roguelikes!

For some reason, it's really hard to change the alpha value of a tile layer in GameMaker. You can do this easily for sprite or instance layers, but not tile layers. So here's a video on how to easily update the alpha value of tile layers in real time.

I'm currently making a Tetris + Mahjong hybrid game called #Nojong. Match colored blocks in the field to make clears. After a number of clears, the blocks left in your hand are scored, so you want to try and keep triples and quadruples in your hand.

Nojong, an arcade mashup of Tetris and Mahjong is out now!

Wonder if anyone can guess what kinda game I'm working on right now with this GameJolt session data as the only clue. I bet someone can sleuth it out!
