NIGHTSTARS Prologue (Lore Explained!)

Hello everyone, first of all I'd like to thank you guys for all the support the game has been receiving! We really appreciate it.

Now, a few weeks ago I was working with @JenPen_ on a "NIGHTSTARS Prologue" comic that would explain what exactly happened to the teenagers mentioned on the Gallery's newspaper. Though realized there was more to say than to show, so here we are!

The Nightstar Palace was known around town for purchasing “cursed objects” from other establishments (one of these was implied to be Freddy’s), which caused weird things to happen inside the restaurant at night.
On August 20th 2019 a small group of teenagers (Max, Jane and Connor) decided to break inside the Palace to investigate whether the rumors were true or not. (art by @JenPen_ )

They had been studying the work schedules for a few days, they knew exactly when it would be the best time and day to break in.
Once they entered the place, they immediately decided to set their “safe zone” in the Theater (the only room you NEVER see in the game).

Max, being the shy and scared kid that he is, decides to sit around the safe zone for the whole night.
Connor wanted to investigate the animatronic mascots, so he headed to the Showstage.
Jane instead decided to go steal a few snacks from the kitchen to help the group stay up all night (why buy snacks beforehand when you can just grab them from the Palace’s kitchen?)

One after the other, they all disappeared into the darkness, leaving Max alone.
He was too scared to run or call for help, all he could do was lay down and cry as the darkness consumed him as well.
It was cold, he felt like he should’ve been sleeping… but he wasn’t, he was awake and aware.
Max was able to think and move, but nobody could hear nor see him, he was a ghost.

The three kids were now victims of whatever paranormal presence haunted the Nightstar Palace, never to be seen again.
Though surely they wouldn’t give up so easily, there was still hope.

The spirits realized they were able to control empty bodies as puppets, in this case the animatronic mascots. If they could somehow use these robots to escape the Palace, they would have a chance to be set free.

They began “testing” these newfound abilities at night, one of the employees even took notes of what was going on (aka the tutorial notebook). The escape was planned to take place on August 26th, the day Jacob was locked in.
Thinking he was there to get in their way, the spirits attempted to get rid of Jacob before escaping the building; there would be no witnesses.

By the end of the night they decided to try something new, they attempted to enter one of the empty bodies all at once, creating “The Vessel”.
Cherry and Pepper, now lifeless, fell on the ground. The haunting was strong enough to cause the lights to cut out and the doors reopening to be delayed, there was no way Jacob was going to survive this.

Although the guard was now out of the way, the haunting was too strong for the Vessel's body to handle, putting it “out of commission”.
A few days later all the mascots were put on a truck and sent to the company’s warehouse/factory. The spirits, now out of the Palace, were finally set free.
