I usually get inspiration from my favorite horror series like salad fingers, Backrooms found footage and many others.
Sometimes i like to make random horror shorts just to improve to test out my skills. hope this helped!

Not sure if there's much advice i could give
What i've usually done is take something i enjoyed as a kid and seeing how i can turn it into a horrific and somewhat realistic situation, then as i go through the series, i would think of key points for story
