Q1: Why make an RPG where the main Fever-Era cast get isekai'd into a D&D campaign?
A:
Puyo Puyo has already had RPG roots, dungeon crawler or not.
The Fever-Era cast is my favorite cast of Puyo Puyo characters. Compile-Era cast is a close second.
But I also felt there was space to explore deeper emotions and conflicts that the mainline games never touch. They have relationships, insecurities, ambitions... So what happens when they're thrown into a life-or-death situation without their usual rules?
Q2: Why is it so dark?!
A: Because sometimes, growing up means facing inner demons. Literally. The tone shift allows me to explore the cast in deeper, more mature ways without sacrificing their essence. It's still them! It's just them under pressure. And hey, swearing and blood can co-exist with heart and hope. Life lesson?
Q3: Is Arle playable?
A: In a sense. You'll see. :)
Q4: Is Lemres (+ Feli) in it?
Q5: Do I have to know Puyo Puyo to play?
A: Gameplay-wise, nope! Lore-wise, definitely.
Q6: Who’s the most important character in the story?
A: Hard to say without spoiling too much, but let's just say the game opens with Amitie and ends with Lidelle.
Q7: Any ideas for a sequel?
A: Yeah! I do! Let's just say things will be pretty fun.
Q8: Why isn't it in RPG Maker MZ?
A: I would love to, but it would be such a hassle to port things from one engine to another.
And don't even get me started on stuff like plugins. Perhaps I'll experiment with MZ for the sequel.
Q9: Final words from the dev?
A: Be kind to people who are quiet. Sometimes they're fighting harder battles than they can express.
To cap off this post, notice that this Q&A, alongside the game page, released on a certain someone's birthday.
Happy Birthday, Amitie! Take this game page as a gift.
