So I can count the amount of intimidating Mario bosses on one hand, so here’s a way to change that:

So near the end of my hypothetical Paper Mario game, Mario gets randomly teleported to this black void, and you walk around a bit, before suddenly getting grabbed by this evil spirit, starting the final boss battle. The battle music is obviously distorted as heck, and whenever you try to attack this thing, it disappears, and then reappears after you’ve successfully missed your attack. And what you have to do to deal damage is to dodge his attacks (that all do an incredible amount of damage to you), and in the short bit where he recovers from his attack, you have to hit him with your hammer. And you have to defeat him to prevent him from destroying all of the mushroom kingdom.

So basically, I want Mario to surpass Kirby in both the Quality department AND in the Boss Ridiculousness department.
