sans the game

Okay let's talk about Sans The Game. (Also about my new Undertale fangame with a demo soon on the way)

So, idk if you've seen, but ever since the last update, I've been up to a lot.

For one, I've finished one game, made a demo to another, and just now, I've made a new page for a game with a yet to be released demo. Worst of all, that new page is an Undertale Fangame. It's called Underlame. So that begs the question, what's going on with THIS Undertale fangame? Sans The Game? sans THE silly game that's silly? Well, I hate to say it, but if it wasn't obvious from the lack of updates, I'm finally throwing in my hat and saying that sans the game is over... FOR NOW... Sorry to get all of your hopes up.

This isn't because it's too hard or too much work or anything. The game is actually REALLY close to being done. I'd say probably another month or two of actual work, and I could get it out. The thing is though, with a game like sans the game, there isn't a lot of satisfaction.

The game is comedic, which is fine for short term projects, but I don't want to work on a game for years just for it to be viewed as a joke. I tried to combat this feeling by slowly giving the game a more and more serious tone and moments as it goes on. Even since the first demo I was trying to do that, with the whole Undertale AU multiverse sans the toby tells you about. But the thing is, if you're playing this game, you don't want that. You don't want it to be serious. I do like what I've done so far, and the small moments of seriousness aren't game ruining. I actually like them all things considered, but I know if I focus on this game, and keep trying to make it my top priority, I'm just gonna keep adding more and more of these moments, and I just don't want to do that to you all.

So, for now, I'm putting a halt to sans the game, not that it's been moving much at all as of late. For the time being, I'm moving on to Underlame, my new Undertale fangame that I've been working on for a bit now. It's not as comedic, so it doesn't feel as unsatisfying. I've also put in actual effort with stuff like the art, or music. If any of you are interested, here's the link. The demo should be out soon, and I have to say, I am really proud of the game so far. I think It's my best one yet, which considering my catalog isn't saying much, but still.

I hate to be part of the "undertale fangame abandoned from lack of motivation" crowd, but I think it's safe to say that I've succumb to that curse. It's a shame, but what is there to do.

So, tl;dr, sans the game is on break for now, and maybe forever. If I officially abandon it, I'll drop the whole build I have so far here for you all to play and do what you want with. I have hopes of finishing it one day though, so have hope.

Little update on sans the game stuff since there's probably a few new people here.

SANS THE GAME WAS ALMOST JUST COMPLETELY LOST FOREVER BUT I FIXED IT!!! My computer plug got unplugged by accident while working on it and corrupted RPGMV file for the project, but I just got a better one.

Revenge of the old sans the frog asset I guess...

Hey good news guys I'm working on my silly sans game the game sans the sans the sans game the game sans again!

At first, instead of everyone looking like sans, they'd just be their normal sprites with sans' face on them. I decided not to do this when I realized what Papyrus would look like. (Also it felt a bit lazy)

Rebrand alert! And by rebrand it's just me committing to the name Ashleebells instead of having two names. Rip Shyder Tyder.

Also, announcement! New game coming soon. Sans the game is dead, but Underlame lives forever. More soon.

I love making sprites
