OnlineTale: First update after 4 months.

Hello Everyone!

I've finally started work on OnlineTale yet again!

This is going to be a fast progress post, but I'll be able to share my thoughts on how I think the game will go, how I've learned thus far, what I'll improve from old versions and what I'll add to the game!

So, let's start!

What we've added thus far:


Profiles

Profiles are a new feature I'm adding to the game, currently, they're client-side meaning that only you can access it.

I may try to use servers to communicate between it, allowing people to view your profile.

Thus far, you can create a new profile and manage as you'd like, such as your main skin, name etc.

They also display your current LV and time spent playing the game.

I'm also planning to add multiple profiles, so you can switch around with a pacifist, neutral and genocide profile without having to delete your current one.


Statistics

Statistics have already been in the game but did not have much support for it.

I've decided to redo the statistics and made it more compatible with the game, by linking it more with the upcoming Inventory.

There's also more of an anti-cheat protocol, by checking all of your stats and editing them to match how the game wants them to be.

As said before, if the game gets more server-sided, your statistics will be made public.

Of course, you'll be able to change the visibility of your statistics on your public profile.


Custom Sprites

As you can see from the description of the game, we've got a new Asset Creator on our Team [@Yuki12345679], allowing us to have custom sprites.

We've currently remade Frisk's sprites, which are still currently under development.


Cellphone

To make your settings more accessible during gameplay, we've made it so that you can change your settings using the CELL option.

So far, you can change fullscreen modes & music muted status.

Using CELL, you can also access CHAT, which you probably know, will allow you to chat with players in the same room as you.

We're planning to add more, such as skin selection, server selection etc.


CHAT

We've gone ahead and remade the CHAT.

The CHAT now functions better and seems better than ever!

The CHAT controls remain mostly the same, controls are all listed before starting the game for the first time.

CHAT can be accessed using the CELL option.


Saving

Saving is an experimental future, allowing you to save all of your stats to one singular file.

SAVE Files are important for the game to use most of its functions.

They're mostly only required during the startup of the game!

If the game is made mostly server-side, we'll most likely have saved data stored on a Database, so that you CAN NOT cheat your way to a higher-level value.

What we're currently trying to add:


Monster battles

As of current, Monster battles are still in HUGE development.

We've currently got it so that you level up with how much EXP you've earned.

There isn't really much to go through here. We'll give an update sooner or later.


So overall, OnlineTale is making some small progress, and I hope it will see the light of day any day now.

BUT!

I DO NOT promise the release of OnlineTale anytime soon, so please do not ask for any release date.
