Making the background itself a clickable link for the game you’re advertising is a terrible idea. Not only will most people ignore it, but those who accidentally click it will be frustrated when they’re suddenly taken to the game’s Steam page, even though they didn’t want to go there. The advertisement also feels way too overhyped, which can turn people off instead of attracting them. It’s better to promote the game with the right balance of excitement and subtlety enough hype to draw attention, but not enough to annoy the audience. Though I haven’t seen this happen very often, it seems that everything eventually goes back to normal once the advertisements stop for a while. Still, I don’t find this to be a good advertising strategy.
