Prometheus (2012, Rated: R)
Oh my God. Where do I even begin with this one? This movie fascinated me and was everything I wanted in a sci-fi movie. I loved both characters Elizabeth Mary Shaw and David-8. For once, I wanted a film from Ridley Scott that would further explore artificial intelligence, Weyland Industries, and take a new direction within the Alien's universe.
I enjoyed dissecting David's character and motives and how much he idolized fictional character - Lawarence of Arabia. This led me to watching that movie and drawing parallels.

Dr. Elizabeth Shaw was a great female protagonist and her relationship dynamic with David-8 was an interesting one to see unfold and shift. As a viewer, you become somewhat baffled by David's obsession with the doctor and question every move he makes. Were his intentions pure or driven by something more?
I read fanfiction from talented writers who crafted what could have been a great sequel, taking Elizabeth and David out on a journey to find the engineers - the source of all creation.
I waited years for a possible sequel and rumors of titles came about. Then, the titles changed, and more time passed. Finally, we got.....Alien: Covenant, which frustrated me greatly. -_-
Everything that was set up in Prometheus was destroyed because Ridley Scott didn't seem to be confident in this story and resulted back to - Aliens and the evil robot did it.
Why does sci-fi always use this trope? It's time for something new.
Prometheus wasn't a perfect movie, but it was the beginning of what could have been a compelling and incredible spinoff.
I love Ridley's work, but it's time he stops writing lol. He goes back to butcher his franchises. Bladerunner is another he ruined in my opinion with the sequel.
