Hey, hows it going?

Today we are excited to announce JumpDudes v0.1.15 is ready to enter closed testing!

Up until this point, our focus has been building up the core systems and implementing the features that are essential for a prototype.

However, with the release of v0.1.15, we mark the point at which we turn our focus. 

We are now aiming to fix bugs, stabilise the server platform and optimise the client for lower end hardware.  This will allow us to facilitate play-testing to get invaluable feedback from the community and ensure we are going in the right direction to make a great game that you'll love!

Here's the detailed changelog for this release:

Technical stuff 🔧⚙️

  • Optimised portal loading

  • Improved logging to report invalid entity lookups, to help identify and diagnose network issues

  • Added security around admin requests

  • General code refactorings

  • Improve error message and reporting around duplicate skills

  • Optimised server config handling

  • Randomly rotate entities when spawning them instead of everything facing one direction

  • Refactored the entire item and equipment system

  • Update process name on Windows OS to show "Jump Dudes" instead of "Godot Engine"

  • Optimised network traffic with new client side validations

  • Hide monster names and healthbars on death to reduce screen clutter

  • Tweak visuals on Triplet city and Spider Cave maps

  • Added various new admin commands to facilitate testing

  • Move Mystic Market function to an NPC in market instead of a button on the main UI

  • Added a system for detecting NPCs with no chat configured

  • Added a system for detecting duplicate NPCs on server startup

  • Added a system for detecting duplicate item types on server startup

  • Improve networking logic to detect broken connections

  • Updated NPC avatars to be blank instead of Godot icons

  • Optimise monster logic to reduce memory usage on server

  • Remove excessive logging from client causing slowdowns in critical code paths

  • Fixed duplicate portals spawning on maps

  • Fixed server not telling clients when buffs expire

  • Fixed crash when re-applying buff to a target with an existing buff

  • Fixed characters sometimes having duplicate skills on login

  • Fixed broken welcome message on help UI

  • Fixed items not being assigned an owner correctly and disappearing after log out

  • Fixed character not being linked to account properly when logging in

  • Fixed client crashing when equipping some items

  • Fixed some items icons stretching badly in the shop UI

  • Fixed a filename conflict issue breaking rings on Windows OS

  • Remove redundant "[System]: " prefix on chat messages from the server

  • Fixed movement desync when using portals, scrolls or teleports

  • Fix UI issues where clicking on buttons would sometimes activate NPCs or monsters behind the UI

  • Fixed a bug allowing players to attack other players on non-pvp maps

  • Fixed XP skill buffs not syncing to other players

  • Show NPC names above buildings, walls and trees

  • Fixed Guards getting stuck in a hit animation loop

  • Fixed misleading error messages when buying items from shops

  • Fixed broken sound effects

  • Fix incorrect default tab on Mystic Market UI when shown

  • Add graceful handling of expected network issues (disconnects)

  • Fixed client crash due to duplicate Triplet City Scroll item type definitions

  • Fixed client crash after logging out and back in

  • Fixed shared assets causing inconsistent visuals on Spider Cave map

  • Fixed bug causing multiple error chat messages from server when using XP skills

  • Fixed bug causing server to spawn players to eachother multiple times when using a portal

  • Fixed desync issues causing buffs to not show on players when spawning through portals

  • Added logic to prevent "Admin Arrows" spawning from monster kills

  • Fixed players dropping items when dying on PvP arena map

  • Fixed NPC names not populating on the NPC chat window

  • Fixed an intermittent issue preventing players from logging in if they disconnected unexpectedly

  • Fixed players floating in mid-air if using an XP skill while jumping

  • Updated Help UI with a better layout

  • Added new Hotkeys page to the Help UI

  • Implement dual wielding system for berserker class

  • Added more guards around Triplet City for increased protection of new players

  • Added a new minimap

  • Added 188 new items, now totalling 278 items

  • Added new "Pants" equipment type

  • Improved visuals on Birth Village map

  • Implement settings to hide monster health bars and nameplates

  • Add new visual for Speed Demon skill

  • Re-design market map

  • Add many new NPCs to market map

  • Add multiple shops to market map

  • Implement new emotes system with Sit, Lay, Sleep Squat and Crouch options

  • Increase player SP regen while sat

  • Add hotkey (Ctrl+A) to sit

  • Add new background scene to login screens

  • Implement player trading system

  • Added a tab for "Maps and locations" to the Help UI

  • Updated the content of the PvP tab on Help UI

  • Add support for signing up with a "Username" instead of an email address

  • Add dedicated isolated storage for items in the market

You can now toggle the audio on the main menu with a handy little widget.

Also, default volume is reduced by 25% based on feedback from players.

Chat messages now wrap vertically, so you don't need to scroll across to read long messages anymore!

When attempting to attack a gaurd or player on the wrong PvP mode, you will now get an error message explaining why.

When hovering the mouse over yourself, you will no longer see the Attack cursor unless you are on PvP mode and able to target yourself!
