Patch 0.0.3: The Finished Demo


We were finally able to make a proper patch and actually finish the demo (this is why it's a whole package instead of a regular patch). It should be pretty obvious, but since this is just a demo, some stuff can be different when the full game releases. So don't be surprised if noticeable changes are made during development.

Anyway, take here a changelog that you probably aren't even going to read.


General changes:

  • A warning sign will now appear the first time you open the game.

  • The title screen had a few improvements:

    • Now has a little intro animation that only plays the first time you open the game.

    • My own name is not an "also" anymore, since I got really involved into the development.

    • "Marshmallow"'s name has been corrected.

    • The song used will now change as you beat the chapters of the game.

    • The sound effects were changed in order to fit the epic/mysterious tone that the title screen tries to archive.

    • The "CONTINUE" option will now disable if you delete every single save file in that exact moment.

    • There are now better transitions to other menus and vice versa.

  • A Chapter Select menu was added (even if only B.B.'s story is available). This is also where the title stars will appear after you beat a chapter.

  • The money counter no longer overlaps itself on the save files. (I know it sounds weird)

  • Both resistances and weaknesses are visible from the beginning of each fight.

  • Escaping from enemy encounters is now guaranteed.

  • The shop no longer makes you wait 75 frames after exiting. (We did notice this before, but we were stupid enough to not know how easy it was to fix)

  • Collisions should work correctly now.

  • The cracks sprites were changed back to the VX Ace ones.

Changes in B.B.'s story:

  • Its title star is now obtainable.

  • Some changes and improvements regarding text messages:

    • Some minor spelling and grammatical mistakes were fixed here and there.

    • A few dialogues were slightly changed. Sometimes even divided into separated message boxes.

    • Some dialogue scenes now show the characters' lines at the top of the screen when they are at the bottom.

  • The "X appeared!" text was removed.

  • B.B. and another character got their sprites position fixed.

  • The Puppet now actually goes back to normal when the battle ends.

  • B.B.'s skills had a few tweaks:

    • Cursed Laugh got its description updated.

    • Super Token Toss's SP cost has risen to 350.

    • Sign-Hammer now deals less damage.

    • Physical Power's description has been updated.

    • Classic Token Toss, Physical Power, and Magic Power skills were removed. (This will not apply to pre-existing save files)

  • The Puppet's skills had a few tweaks:

    • Explosive Gift and its variants' description has been updated.

    • Motivational Music's mode variants now has higher SP cost, depending on which mode you are using. (This doesn't apply to every single variant)

    • The electric and SSJ variants of Motivational Music were exchanged, since the one that were supposed to be the weakest of the two, was instead the strongest by far.

    • Epic Music (previously Rock Music) no longer buffs the stats twice.

    • Drain Touch now works depending on both the user and target's health.

    • The Music Box song has been shortened.

    • The transformation skills no longer trigger a fail message.

    • The SSJ transformation will now trigger its animation, which now has the DBZ sound effect. Also this mode became immune to status.

    • There's now text when the Puppet goes back to his basic self.

  • B.B.'s lines about the mechanics now have blue text, so it's easier to see what's important to know.

  • The tutorial boss has a few changes:

    • Everyone got their battlers updated. (Which caused them to switch places in the target selector)

    • Foxy's skill "Lunging Bite" now deals 25% of current HP of damage.

    • Foxy cannot spam Speed Share anymore.

    • Foxy can no longer use Full Moon.

  • Toy Bonnie's voice can now actually be heard in one of the cutscenes. (He always had a voice, but his line was so short that the script didn't make any sound)

  • The camera HUD had some minor improvements.

  • The car's collisions now cover the entire sprite.

  • The vent is now visible at the very beginning of the base.

  • The door at the very beginning of Zone 0 now has a consistent design and something actually happens if you interact with it.

  • A map between the first two rooms of Zone 0 was added to fix the perspective issue with the transition. (I realized about this too, but it wasn't until now that someone actually complained)

  • Both spikes sections were remade to improve performance and hopefully fix any related bug.

  • Every movable box in the game shouldn't be able to softlock you anymore.

  • The checkpoints sprites were polished.

  • Some minor details about color codes with the chests were fixed.

  • Some changes related to the Zone 0 boss:

    • Its description was updated. So now the game reminds you about the final attack mechanic.

    • It can now recharge its SP.

    • Its ATK was nerfed to 315.

    • Its skill "Dual Attack" now has the same strength as "Triple Attack".

    • It can no longer use Quad Attack.

  • Every single door now works by just touching them, they no longer need you to press a key.

  • B.B. can now enter the women bathroom at Zone 1, but not for long. There's nothing interesting in here anyway.

  • The Slice of Cake was removed from the shops, since it was pretty useless.

  • The very first blue fireball from Zone 1 has now normal speed.

  • The reset switch from Zone 1 now works faster.

  • The fireballs dungeon of Zone 1 had a few changes:

    • Your party will now "compress" before entering the fireballs area. Just like in any spike dungeon.

    • Some fireballs were repositioned and/or their route were changed, to make them more balanced and prevent any route to break.

    • Now every single fireball should disappear right after hitting the player. (They will not be deleted permanently)

    • Four fireballs were added to a previously empty room.

    • There's now only one way to the switch that unlocks the path to the boss.

    • A chest was added at the very right top corner of the dungeon.

  • Bosses in general got a few improvements:

    • Their intros now can be skipped by holding the D key before someone starts talking. If the B.B. talks inmedieatly, you should hold D while you interact with that boss.

    • A few boss cutscenes has now a few little reactions from the characters' sprites.

    • They will now use a X-Large Sode on themselves when they are out of SP. This was made due to a targeting bug from the RPGMVXA engine.

    • They now requiere 50 TP for their final attack, since it actually takes them a bit to gain said points and that allows you to be more careless than you should.

    • Their outros were revamped, so now everyone will show their corpse before being absorbed by the Puppet, just like Ronald and Burger King.

  • The Zone 1 boss was made a bit easier, since I felt it was a bit too hard to be the first boss:

    • Both Ronald and BK now have less MHP.

    • Ronald's name has been shortened due to a cutoff.

    • Ronald's ATK has been nerfed to 235.

  • The vending machine at the beginning of Zone 2 was moved to a more comfortable place.

  • The doors puzzle from Zone 2 had a few little changes:

    • The doorway that gets you back to the start of the puzzle from Zone 2 now has a sprite.

    • The doors now teleport you faster.

    • The fights from incorrect doors does not have a recycled (and copyrighted) song anymore.

    • One of the tip sings was slightly changed.

    • A minor bug about one of the tip signs was fixed.

  • Some minor tile details from Zone 2 are not missing anymore. (Maybe you won't even notice)

  • Some changes related to the Zone 2 boss:

    • The intro dialogues were changed to remove knowledge that B.B. shouldn't have. (Although I tried to justify it at first)

    • His ATK was nerfed to 260.

    • His description was updated to let you know how to evade massive damage.

    • He will now poison a party member less often. Allowing his AI to choose attacks more frequently.

    • He can't kill himself with one of his own skills anymore. Also said skill now will be used every 5 turns instead of 4.

  • The chests from the Zone 3 storage were swapped, and one of them is now a bit hidden.

  • A chest was added to that one empty room from Zone 3.

  • The portals puzzle had a few improvements:

    • The portals are now animated.

    • B.B. now faces in the right direction every time he teleports.

    • A red portal now works when it should.

    • The portals now make a sound with colored flash when they are activated by a switch.

    • The secret room now requires a colored switch to be unlocked. You will hear a sound if you screw it up, but not when you unlock it.

    • B.B. jumps from a vent after the puzzle ends to fix the perspective issue with the transition. And if someone gets softlocked in the previous exit, they will be teleported to the center of the room.

  • The door right after the portals puzzle was moved to make a non-disorienting transition.

  • The chase from Zone 3 had a few changes:

    • Now a dedicated song will play.

    • You can now save right before it starts.

    • The game now disables saving instead of the menu.

    • The fireballs from the very beginning now reposition when you load your run. By exchange, they are now slower.

    • The segment was updated to be slightly harder. There's also a sign before the chase that could help you about it.

  • A decent amount of changes related to the Zone 3 boss:

    • Ennard and the Fan got one of their skills' AI priority readjusted, so their most dangerous skills are now used every X turns.

    • The whole squad got their descriptions updated.

    • Lefty's skill "Bondage Bash" can't no longer inflict more than one status at the same time.

    • Lefty now requires a bit of TP for any of his skills.

    • The Fan was renamed to "Desk Fan".

    • The Desk Fan's HP has been buffed to 14.500.

    • The Desk Fan is now inmune to Silence.

    • The Desk Fan will not spam Refreshing Air anymore, so it will stop wasting turns just to recharge it's effects almost inmediatly.

  • A vending machine was added at one of the first maps of Zone 4.

  • The almighty Magic Gem was nerfed and moved to Zone 3. The Chest that had it previously now contains 3 Large Pizzas instead.

  • The "palace-like" map from Zone 4 had some improvements:

    • The vending machine from the very beginning now has the key first in the list. Also, the key is more expensive now.

    • The black balls from the very beginning were removed.

    • The map design was updated.

    • Now it should take longer to start an enemy encounter.

    • Every chest is now randomized.

    • A teleporter was added, so you don't need to walk all the way just to buy stuff or fight the boss anymore.

  • A decent amount of changes related to the Zone 4 boss:

    • Her battle theme was re-looped.

    • Her MHP has been buffed to 60.000.

    • Her ATK has been buffed to 280.

    • Her DEF has been nerfed to 250.

    • She can't give the High status anymore.

    • A few of her resistances and weaknesses were readjusted.

    • She will no longer do a regular attack.

    • She cannot use Bagpack Surprise or Counter Stance twice in a row anymore.

    • Bagpack Surprise's effect messages were updated.

    • Rocket Launch now deals around 1.200 of damage and it will never fail, no matter what. Also it will hit once every party member and move last. (Unless Motivational Music or its variants are used)

    • An empty skill was removed.

  • The spike section of Zone 5 is now slightly harder.

  • Every enemy from Zone 5 got their battlers updated.

  • The switches and the reset button from Zone 5 now work faster.

  • The game will now tell you that you will need a lot of items right before the Zone 5 boss.

  • A considerable amount of changes related to the Zone 5 boss:

    • Their sprites' position will now readjust to their intended direction if you load your run right before the fight.

    • Both got their battlers updated.

    • A few of their resistances and weaknesses were readjusted.

    • Both got their descriptions updated.

    • Both got some of their skills' AI priority readjusted. So their most dangerous skills are now used every X turns, and the support ones can't be spamed.

    • Both can now gain TP by using their skills.

    • G. Freddy's MHP was nerfed to 31.600.

    • G. Freddy's ATK was buffed to 250.

    • G. Freddy's DEF was buffed to 225.

    • G. Freddy's Magic DEF was nerfed to 260.

    • G. Freddy can't give the High status anymore.

    • G. Freddy will no longer do a regular attack.

    • G. Freddy's skill "Mega Bite" now deals around 850 at minimum and 1.150 at maximum. Also its accurecy was increased to 100%, but it can still be avoded.

    • G. Freddy's skill "Golden Rain" now just removes DEF buffs instead of debuffing it twice per hit.

    • G. Freddy's skill "Yiff Dicks" now reduces the target's HP to 1 and always hits.

    • Springtrap's MHP was nerfed to 32.300.

    • Springtrap's ATK was buffed to 240.

    • Springtrap's DEF was buffed to 230.

    • Springtrap can no longer guard.

    • Springtrap's skill "Break Virus" was replaced by Ennard's "Status Snipe".

    • Springtrap's skill "Spring Coil" now multiplies his DEF by 150% instead of 200%.

    • Springtrap's skill "Spring Spark" now deals 25% of damage.

    • Springtrap's skill "Fandango" now it deals a bit more damage.

    • Springtrap's skill "Spring Swing" can no longer paralyze and its own AGI was SUPER nerfed to 30. But in exchange, silence and burning statuses are now guaranteed.

    • A self-contradiction from B.B. at the outro was fixed.

  • A considerable amount of changes related to the final boss:

    • The game now let's you change your trinkets before engaging the final battle.

    • Everyone got their descriptions updated.

    • Everyone got element resistances and weaknesses. Now the Puppet is forced to use its modes. :troll:

    • Everyone got some of their skills' AI priority readjusted. So their most dangerous skills are now used every X turns, and the support ones can't be spamed.

    • Everyone but P. Foxy can now gain TP when using most of their skills.

    • P. Freddy's MHP was nerfed to 23.555.

    • P. Freddy's ATK was nerfed to 230.

    • P. Freddy's skill "Phantom Sting" now hits once instead of twice.

    • P. Freddy's skill "Tophat Roulette" can no longer fail or be avoided by his teammates.

    • P. Chica's MHP was nerfed to 20.000.

    • P. Chica's DEF was buffed to 190.

    • P. Chica's skill "Wistful Whirl" now hits twice per enemy instead of thrice.

    • P. Foxy's MHP was nerfed to 24.000.

    • P. Foxy's ATK was nerfed to 195.

    • P. Foxy's skill "Skill Share ++" had its Quick Step status nerfed. So now it endures 3 turns instead of 5.

    • P. Mangle's MHP was nerfed to 19.500.

    • P. Mangle's AGI was nerfed to 280. Now P. Foxy is actually the fastest.

    • P. Mangle's skill "Phantom Volt" now hits once and his chance of burn raised to 35%.

    • P. Mangle's skill "Lightningbolt" was exchanged with "Somnojolt".

    • Your party now gets healed right before (and after) the fight, just as it was intended.

  • The final escape scene had a few improvements:

    • The time limit has been reduced to 1 minute.

    • The escape route is now longer and has a few dead ends.

    • A few rocks were moved or removed.

    • A few more events were added.

    • The death scene was updated.

    • B.B. will now run by himself when you reach the exit before the final cutscene.

  • The credits got a few improvements:

    • A few people got added.

    • The ending image now darkens when the credits start rolling, so they are easier to read. (Even if you never do that to begin with)

  • The B.B. from the past now has a "PAST" tag on his text face at the post-credits scene.


This is when the game finally gets a hiatus.

If you ask, there's nothing new in this patch. Just balancing tweaks and bugfixes.

Ni me acordaba del día, de hecho todavía no lo hago. Así que no tengo nada preparado para este post.

Para el aniversario de 4RP creo que tampoco, si improviso podría ser decepcionante después de lo anterior visto. Pero ya veré.
