Good morning, citizens of Ultraviolet City!
Roses is here and we will be celebrating Blake’s Birthday today!
Give a big round of applause to our competent up and coming inventor! Hopefully, one day, he will achieve his dreams!
Now, celebrations aside. Let’s roll onto the development log itself!
Admittingly, considering this is the first ACTUAL devlog, I’ll still try to make it short and straight to the point.
Now that the new year began 3 days ago, I have plans into making sure that this game will be a real deal!
Before you ask, I will not state when this game will be finished nor when will it be released, for now. We’re working on this and we don’t want to set expectations right from the get-go.
I will also not list a percentage of how much progress the game had so far. Again, we don’t want to set expectations and considering that this is the first game I’m directing, I really don’t have a strong sense for how far the game has gone.
I’m still up for answering questions regarding the game itself and hopefully, this year, we’ll show more of what the game looks like!
Speaking of feedback receptions, I was entirely blown away by the immediate support for this game.
A huge shout out to @Patata1236 for making a shout out for the game page.
Now onto the development log!
Considering that the game is a visual novel, writing is the first crucial step before we do anything for the game. Programming, composing and developing artwork for the game will need to be after the story is done in order to make the game a real deal and to also avoid making any work scrapped due to constant writing changes.
I’m the story and script writer for this game. I want to make sure that the story is in a good shape before we do more for the game. And to say that writing for the entire game isn’t an easy job would be an understatement…
Despite the constant challenges I face as writer (such as tackling with life stuff, struggling with motivation), I have the announcement that I already planned how the story would go! It would require drafting out the routes for each of the characters (Sara, Saffron, Blake, Shawn and Bonnie) and then discuss with the team on feedback (such as whether or not this part of the route is bad, etc.).
Speaking of characters, let’s go onto my other role for the game: Sprite Artist!
I’ve had a lot of fun designing the main characters for the game. They’re pretty unique and distinct from each other. And I am very happy that people seem to love the designs so far!
There will be more side characters within the game and while I haven’t finished all of them, I would say that you might like their designs too!
Speaking of side characters, I wonder who is this?
Oh well, you’ll have to find out later!
That is all I will say for this devlog today. Next one would be on Shawn’s Birthday, which would be on the 6th of February!
See ya!
