I suppose you might be wondering, what is Lolita fashion? Lolita fashion is a style that contains many different themes and has become one of the larger, more recognizable styles in Japanese street fashion, with a worldwide following. It typically features skirts or dresses that are knee-length or longer, worn with petticoats for volume. The blouses or tops are often lace-trimmed or ruffled in the Victorian or Rococo style. Socks or stockings of varying lengths are worn, often topped with lace, and paired with Mary Janes, tea party shoes, or boots. Lolita fashion also includes several sub-styles such as Gothic Lolita, Sweet Lolita, Classic Lolita, Punk Lolita, and Ouji.
To celebrate @CathMagicPenguinMobius05 's birthday, I've been thinking about drawing one of her Sonic OCs in Japanese street fashion. I decided to dress her earliest Sonic OC, Princess Catherine Celeste Buttercup Nye-Frankenstein, in something cute and beautiful; assuming that Princess Catherine comes from a fairy-tale-like version of Mobius, I thought that the Sweet Lolita style would be perfect for her. This style is childlike, featuring baby animals, fairy tale themes, and innocent, childlike attire. It was inspired by Victorian children's clothing and the prevalent kawaii culture in Japan. Sweet Lolita often incorporates pastel colors, although some dresses or skirts may feature darker or muted colors. Popular accessories for Sweet Lolita include large head bows, cute purses, and stuffed animals. I hope she likes it!
