Hey everyone! Welcome to this very special progress report!

Today is DELTARUNE's birthday (and Halloween too, I guess), so we have some special things to show you all.

I can't wait to show you guys what we got finished ever since we got back to work.

We finally regained our motivation to work on this, so we've actually been getting stuff DONE. Like a lot done, believe me.

So, sit back and enjoy the new content we have!

ROLE SWAPS

In case you missed it, we silently added a couple new swaps to both chapters shortly after releasing the last progress report:

Sweet Cap'n Cakes now swap with the Addisons! This one's gonna work a little funny, and a bit funky too! Since the Addisons were a big part of Cyber City, expect something very cool to happen in that area with the musical trio.

And not related to Chapter 2 exclusively, we're also happy to announce that we're swapping the Annoying Dog with Temmie! This kind of works how you'd expect.

Anyway, this isn't the big part of the update. That's right below here!

REDESIGNS!! (Yes, redesigns!)

Say hello to the new Lancer! With his trusty bike, he's here to help Kris and Susie seal the Fountain!

We wanted Lancer to look different, for obvious reasons, but didn't want to force anything out of character for him...

While we didn't add too much to him, we didn't want his design to become overwhelming. So we're happy with how he looks.

And say hello to Dark Prince! Huh? Ralsei? Never heard of that guy. (And there definitely isn't another new design hiding under that cloak!)

The things he's been through... haha. You'll find out eventually.

CHANGES TO CHAPTER 1

Well... if you haven't noticed before, we were originally going to make Lancer tell a fake legend and trick Susie into thinking Ralsei was the bad guy of the Legend. This sounded like a really creative idea at first, so we counted it as canon. But when we actually got to writing, it became a problem. We encountered many issues such as fighting Ralsei's dummy, leaving a lot of plot holes, etc.

We eventually discussed this topic and later realized it wasn't fit for us. It was original, but we didn't really understand how to handle it. So we tried thinking of something else, something that could bring new things to the table... while still being somewhat original, of course. That's when we decided to make both Lancer and Ralsei be on your side in this version of the story.

We can't say how Chapter 1 plays out exactly, but in summary, it's way sillier now and has many new character expressions and poses! When comparing the two, we can definitely say the previous one was more serious. Not edgy, just more serious. The current version has more jokes.

Since we're a little more experienced now, we have a clearer vision of how to develop the game and know what to avoid during development.

We're hoping what we're doing now is final.

No more reboots. Redesigns. Nothing.

We really want you all to play the game already.

Hopefully, if we stick to what we're doing right now, we'll get things done in 2022!

SPRITES

We've been doing a lot of spriting recently! It's been fun making these, so here's a few extra of them.

Although we haven't showed much, we actually have plenty more done. We'll save that for our next update, though.

Until then, you can get an idea on what we're doing so far with these.

WRITING

Lots of new ideas have popped up since we decided to make this new change. Without getting into the details, the structure of this chapter will actually feel a bit different from how it was in DELTARUNE while still following most of the general story beats.

Basically, don't expect ANYTHING to follow the original game exactly. A lot of it will feel fresh and new.

Here are a few bits of dialogue that show how this change will affect Ralsei and Lancer.

And unrelated to that, here's some funny dialogue from Susie.

CONCLUSION

We hope you enjoyed seeing what was revealed in this update. Next time we'll be sharing things about the Light World!

(Oh, and sorry for the lack of music in this one. We tried to get some tracks done, but sadly, it just didn't happen.)

In the meantime, remember that we're still working on this, and that we're not dead. Whatever we make, I hope you enjoy it. Because it has a lot of crazy things.
