Hey everyone! I was originally going to write some lengthy post in anticipation of the game's release about my struggles with developing 1972 and my declining mental health, but that's dumb and comes off as really self-important. So I'm going to keep this as short as I can and get straight to the point to save everyone's time, including mine:
The game will be coming out tomorrow, April 30th. Sunday SUNDAY! SUNDAY! I've said a couple of times before the game was ready, but then ended up delaying it some more, but this time, it is ready. Or at least as ready as it's going to be. I'm sorry for all the delays. The main reason for the delays was that I wanted to add more content to the game. As development went on, the number of things I wanted to implement just kept increasing. I eventually reached a point where I had to tell myself to just focus on what was essential for the gameplay and for the story to be told.
The original version of this post was going to hype up this game like it's the craziest thing ever, but all I can honestly say is that I tried to make it my best game, yet. 1972 was originally just meant to be a small side project as I was working on my other game, but this ended up becoming my top priority these past few months. I wanted to make something simple that I knew people would play and enjoy to an extent, and I don't think a lot of people would be interested in my cringey, self-indulgent furry platformer or whatever else I was working on, I don't blame them.
I'm not completely satisfied with the final product, but I am really glad to finally be releasing something after a year and a half of nothing. It feels like a curse is finally being lifted. I hope you will all enjoy the game, and I hope to make an even greater, scarier experience in the future.
