Progress Update - Feedback Demo 2

DEVELOPMENT STATUS

For the past 10 months I've been implementing the plans I made in May 2021, of which there are still many that are unimplemented, but it's slowly coming together. Of course, my vision on certain aspects of them has changed over time and I've made the necessary adjustments to make things fit well together. Crazy how long a few days of brainstorming can last.

I can't really estimate an overall progress on this new part of the game, but going off the original plans, I'd say about 25% of what was planned has been added in (NOT counting the lore). I would've expected more as well, but most of the work on the game at this point is unplanned foundation work; the planned stuff requires little time / effort to add in once the foundation is done.

Since February, I've adopted a better work tactic that has allowed me to make more consistent, linear progress on the game:

  1. Not caring about the release

  2. Working 1-3 hours everyday as supposed to 5-10 hours in fewer days (due to exhaustion, working more per day is worse than working a little bit at a time; you should want to work more at the end of the session, that's what keeps you going in the following days)

  3. Making quick plans before each development session for tasks that seem reasonably unreasonable to achieve within that short timespan

FEEDBACK DEMO 2 DELAY

About 5-6 months ago, I stated that I will be releasing the second feedback demo in March. Since then, after the sheer amount of girth the game's content has acquired, I have been doubting my capability of releasing anything in March, because I knew for a fact that it wouldn't be anything good (or playable for that matter) to share with you guys. That being said, I am delaying the release of the feedback demo until June 2022, when I'm hoping to have a way more complete picture of the game than what was initially planned for the demo.

By "redoing the math" I will also allow for the game to use more hardware resources to run better and smoother, especially on higher refresh rate monitors
