The game basically revolves around an unnamed medicine which claims to treat PRMDs (Post-Respawn Mental Defects). A PRMD would typically be something like a loss of IQ, constant depression, hallucinations, etc. They happen because your brain isn't properly recreated during the respawn process.

There's also PRPDs (Post-Respawn Physical Defects), such as having an extra finger or lacking eyesight in one eye, but those aren't a major plot-point.

Basically, Cameron (the character you play as) has a PRMD which caused his IQ to drop to 65, which requires him to be under the care of another person at all times, usually his aunt.

One night, Cameron finds an advertisement claiming to be able to treat his PRMD, and signs up to test it. Not gonna say anything that happens after this, because that all happens in the actual game itself.
