Upon starting the game, the Sonic the Hedgehog 2 title screen appears, with only Sonic's emblem.

Pressing ENTER will reveal his true identity in a split second.

The character selection screen from Sonic 3 & Knuckles then appears, featuring Shadow the Hedgehog, Sally Acorn, and Rouge the Bat. Of course,

Sally and Rouge are not selectable. Selecting Shadow will trigger a distorted and malevolent laugh.

• SHADOW:

The game begins with a level called "Let's Play," with the character standing in a hall of mirrors,

a faint echo of a piano playing a calm melody in the distance. Each time he passes a mirror, a more twisted and

distorted version of himself appears; the red markings on his reflection ooze red as if bleeding,

and his eyes are bloodshot to the point of bleeding, with a psychotic grin on his face.

Upon passing the last mirror, the music stops. Shadow now walks down an empty, silent corridor.

Then Shadow stops in front of another mirror. He freezes there, displaying his strange, bloody reflection.

The macabre laughter returns, and then Sonic appears... with black and red eyes, red tears

streaming down his face... grinning as he stares at Shadow. Then the screen goes black, and a

message appears: "It's not the outside that matters, it's who you are on the inside that truly intrigues me."

Returning to the level, Shadow is sitting on the floor, curled up in a fetal position

like a child. Sonic grins as he stares directly at the screen and then lunges at Shadow.

The screen goes black with a loud, pixelated screech. The laughter returns, along with another message.

"You're learning this better than anyone, aren't you, [USERNAME]?"

The screen returns to the main menu with Shadow on one of the DATA SELECT screens, his eyes

red and veiny, blood dripping from them, and a wide grin full of sharp teeth. Selecting Sally will cause the laughter to return and the screen to go dark.

• SALLY:

The character will appear in an old, desolate city with a dark, cloudy sky.

Everything is completely empty and lifeless... with no music.

After making her run and jump over rubble, she reaches the end of the level.

Sonic.EXE is there...

She smiles at him, and he smiles back. Then a message appears:

"See? I'm not so bad, [USERNAME]..."

Then another...

"I can be kind when I want to..."

Then he approaches Sally, takes her hand, and smiles warmly.

Sonic.EXE gently places his hands around Sally's head...

"I really love humans, [USERNAME]."

"They're so much fun to play with..."

"Actually... I guess you could say..."

Then, a close-up of Sonic.EXE, grinning widely, violently snapping Sally's neck,

still smiling as if he feels no pain.

"...They're the ULTIMATE TOY."

The screen goes dark and laughter resumes. Returning to the main character selection menu,

Sally is shown on her TV screen, smiling with her eyes closed and stitched shut.
